It was late when he returned to the apartment. Darkness already covered the entire room. No sound could be heard, making him think Avana must be in her room, resting.

He had given her a separate room where she could stay. He did not want to force her into this marriage, giving her some space to breathe. He knew love was not the basis of their union but a mere necessity.

He did not want her to feel obligated to consummate their pretend marriage by sleeping with him if that was not what she wanted. Although he would not lie, he wanted her by his side. He had a deep desire to possess her.

"Avana?" He called out, surprised to see a figure sleeping on his bed. He was not expecting anyone inside his room, so when he saw someone sleeping underneath the sheets, he automatically thought of her.
