Then, his roar echoed in the trees, birds flew away in fright, and animals scattered, scared for their lives. His hands instinctively searched for Avana, wanting to feel her in his arms, but he sensed nothing.
Abruptly, his eyes fluttered open, wondering where she had gone. But he was alone, lying on a grassy, rocky ground on his back. He had fallen asleep while waiting for her to return and had another of his dreams.
Dreams that had continued to consume him more and more each day, more intense than the other.
"Where are you, Avana?" Adam asked, realizing that she had not returned.
