Chapter 60 - LX

She had no idea what came over her when she decided to step into his space. Her knees were shaking, her lungs were about to collapse from the lack of oxygen, and her lips quivered in fear, but her feet continued to stride toward him, only stopping when she was a foot away.

Was she on a death wish?

He could kill her with his bare hands, remembering those stories of how the Vatalis troops slaughtered their kind. However, her body had taken over her reasoning, as if detecting no danger from this man.

"No, I won't." His words promised he would never hurt her, and deep inside her, she believed him. Suddenly, her fears subsided, replaced by a different sensation that was becoming very familiar to her.

Should it scare her more than the threat of death? Should she run because of it?

She had never felt this connection to anyone before, not in her entire life. Not even to the man she thought would be the mate she would marry. 

But alas!
