Chapter 3 - Level Up

[Beginner Town]

When Hiro regained his vision, the sight that welcomed him was a square in the center of the town with models of old buildings made of marbles.

The buildings around the square where he was teleported were not very tall, except for one church-shaped building with two towers rising up to 50 meters above ground level.

This time, Hiro felt very familiar with the view of a town with old building models, a sight he usually encountered in a beginner town, where an MMORPG game began.

Hiro could see people talking to NPCs in front of buildings of various shapes. All conversations sounded normal as if they were all humans, but NPCs could be easily distinguished because there was no information regarding level, player name, job class, and title above their heads.

Even though it looked very spacious, the number of users who could be seen walking around in the Beginner Town square wasn't too many. Making it look as if people were not interested in the game.

However, when Hiro focused his eyes on the information printed above the other player's avatar's head through his eyes, he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

[Level 17. Aura. Mage. Newborn Noble]

[Level 16. Edmund. Knight. Noble Knight]

[Level 18. Daniel. Rogue. Fresh Money]

"Everyone is already close to the world cap level. It seems that this special CBT started a few days ago."

"But at least, I still have 7 days to catch up"

Hiro knew what to do to speed up leveling up in an MMORPG. However, to do so, first he needed the manual guide of the game.

He decided to walk to find a quiet place where he could concentrate, and the choice fell on a gap between two large buildings.

First, Hiro checked the time display in his HUD system.

The system of running time in the LSO game has the same time as real life, which is 1 hour = 60 minutes = 3600 seconds.

However, there is a significant difference between server time and real time in Tokyo, Japan.

Server time was 13 hours different. And right now, the sky within the LSO world was still bright.

[02.10 PM Server Time]

After studying the game's time system, he then summoned his own system.

[System Call]

Hiro could see several menus listed like a 'home' page on his android bracelet in the real world.

His progressive status didn't immediately appear on the main screen like when he called the system for the first time.

His eyes moved to a spider-shaped icon with writing underneath…

[Monster Wiki]

Something that he desperately needed right now - a guide. He opened the menu.

Immediately after, list regarding detailed information about the type of monster, the level of the monster, the element/weapon used by the monster, the race of the monster, type of drop monster, as well as the coordinates of its location appeared in front of Hiro's eyes, complete with 3D images of the monsters walking on the spot.

"Gotcha!"

Hiro studied the monsters listed on the wiki in no time.

The monster wiki only has complete information for a few low-level monsters, while the rest is just a blank page with a question mark in the column where the monster's name should be written.

[Unlock new monster information to obtain LSC bonus]

"Nice!"

After reading through the list, Hiro's choice fell on the monster [Wild Boar Level 8].

Even though the listed level for Hiro's avatar was still Level 1, he was very confident about his first assessment of his current basic stats.

And he had calculated it, [Wild Boar level 8] would be the first monster to experiment with his basic stats which were currently equivalent to player level 10.

A newbie player would definitely prefer to start from a level 1 monster, a slime named Reemooroo because it was equivalent to their initial level and stats.

However, Hiro as a pro player already knew how to speed up his level-up and catch up by targeting monsters with different level gaps.

Good thing about this game, there was no EXP penalty. This made Hiro free to risk attempting any level monster, because defeating the monster with a high level gap would give him higher EXP points. Thus, fasten the leveling up.

However, before he went grinding, Hiro decided to go find an NPC Merchant to buy some potions.

He checked how much money he got from the system.

[Balance 25LSC]

LSC. Even in the game they use the same currency.

The NPC Merchant was a man in shabby clothes who kept smiling as he watched the players walking past him.

After thinking for a while, Hiro decided to buy 5 health potions and 3 energy potions. The former cost 3 LSC per bottle while the latter cost 2 LSC per bottle, meaning almost all the money he had was spent on potions.

"The hunting items are very expensive," Hiro grumbled after leaving the NPC Merchant.

He then ran towards the coordinates of the location listed in the Monster Wiki information with the help of the HUD which displayed a map of the city.

Tap tap tap!

The coordinates of the location of the first monster to be hunted.

A vast grass field with several places overgrown with 100 cm tall bushes with thorny stems was the place where the coordinates of the [Wild Boar]'s supposed location were, according to the information from the Monster Wiki.

[All Set]

Hiro's HUD display had disappeared from his vision, now Hiro can see his surroundings more clearly. He also squinted his eyes to look further, looking for roughly where the monster he was looking for was located.

However, after spending some time roaming around the place, Hiro still couldn't find his prey.

Until suddenly, the bush behind his back moved.

Rustle!

A wild boar with a body covered with thick black fur and a rough look suddenly jumped out of the bush, attacking Hiro's ass with a pair of very pointy tusks curved on either side of its snout. Caught off guard, his butt was butted by the boar.

Bamm!

[Health -100]

Hiro's body was thrown and fell to the ground, his bottom hurting a lot after being hit.

"Damn, pig!" cursed Hiro in annoyance. He immediately rose to his feet and drew his great sword.

Firmly, Hiro swung his greatsword with two hands. The blade of the greatsword managed to hit the tusks of the [Wild boar].

Clank!

Grook!

The boar growled in anger as the large sword got stuck in its long tusks. The monster swiftly tried to push Hiro back with its four fat short legs. This monster has a fairly strong power due to the level gap.

"Wait till I turn you into BBQ pork!"

Hiro's great sword blade couldn't move as it was stuck on the boar's tusk. Now, its function was only to hold the boar from pushing Hiro's body.

Hiro didn't want to lose, he still believed in his abilities.

But, unable to expect much from his weapon, Hiro used his long and strong legs…

"Eat this!"

Bang!

Hiro kicked the boar's head with his foot, just like kicking a soccer ball.

Unexpectedly, the kick was so strong that the boar was thrown from its place, rolled on the ground two meters away from Hiro.

[Wild Boar health -50]

[Wild Boar health 350/400]

It didn't kill the boar instantly.

Hiro walked approaching the boar who was flailing with his four legs kicking in the air, trying to stand up but it was helpless. Its too big size and very disproportionate ratio of body and legs didn't allow it to turn around by itself.

Realizing that the monster couldn't stand up, Hiro chuckled at it, before slashing the head of the helpless wild boar with his greatsword in one swing.

Slash!

[Fatal Damage]

A fatal attack sent the boar's head flying away from its body.

"Is that all?"

Ding!

[Base Level Up 1x! (Level 2)]

Ding!

[Job Class Level Up 1x! (Level 2)]

Hiro immediately checked the drop he got from the first monster he killed, all the things that automatically entered his inventory were useless trash. Drops like boar's broken fangs, wild boar's fur, and wild boar's meat.

Free inventory available for players is only 50 slots. However, the drop of trash crammed into Hiro's inventory. It reduced his speed as a consequence. Thus, he had to throw it away carefully. To ensure that the items were really meaningless.

But suddenly, a row of bushes from the direction of the wild boar appeared was moving rapidly, the sound of noisy footsteps in the bushes could be heard even more clearly.

"Oh, shit!"

Ding!
