"Where's my room?"
Kenric halted in his process of teleporting away right after suggesting Annalise to take a rest first.
However, he was asked a question that left him totally stupefied as he had no idea where her bedroom was supposed to be, or which of the many empty rooms of the castle was now her bedroom.
And if he wasn't guessing wrong then they hadn't even prepared a room for her in the first place. Just great!
Not knowing what to do, he just stood there like a fool for the next couple of seconds while tapping his boot in annoyance.
That's why he wasn't happy to be assigned with the task of greeting the woman who was now their wife. He and the others had completely messed up the day, or the night in their case.
First and foremost, they all were pretty lazy to prepare anything for the wedding but at the same time, they needed to make the castle presentable enough for their wife.
That's why he and Valerius used a few spells to make the castle look presentable enough. However, neither of them knew that Damien would return home in bad mood and would cause the entire castle to turn upside down.
It took a lot of effort from both him and Valerius to handle the angry Damien and by the time they succeeded, the castle was looking way worse than its usual self. Not only that but the three of them ended up missing their wedding as it was already an hour past midnight.
As they had already messed up the castle and the wedding, the only thing left for them to mess up was to greet their bride on her arrival at the castle. And looking at the current situation, Kenric could see that he wasn't doing a great job.
"Umm... How about we go and find one for you?" He finally suggested and instead of waiting for her reaction, he turned around and started walking towards the staircase leading to the upper floor. He had to find a bedroom for her and the problem would be solved. Right?
-
Annalise stared at the departing silhouette of the man who seemed to be in a hurry as he almost ran upstairs. Not wanting to be left behind all alone, she too lifted her dress a little before hurriedly chasing after him.
She watched as Kenric threw open the doors of the rooms one by one and immediately rejected them after taking a single glance inside. It didn't take too long before they were at the end of the hallway and the man was ready to march upstairs in search of a room.
"My Lord..."
Annalise finally found the courage to speak as she was too tired to search for a room with Kenric. She had a feeling that he would end up rejecting all the rooms on the second floor too.
Kenric stopped in his tracks when he heard her calling him and turned to face the woman whose voice sounded so soft and musical to his ears. He remained silent waiting for her to continue.
"How about I take a look at the rooms. Maybe... I will find one according to my liking?" Annalise suddenly found herself getting nervous when she noticed the Lord looking at her with his intense gaze. She probably shouldn't have said anything and just followed him in his search. But it was too late to regret.
But to her surprise, Lord Kenric sounded pretty satisfied when he finally responded. "Sounds reasonable. Since we are searching a room for you, you are the best person to decide which one you want. Go ahead!"
Annalise didn't waste even a single second as she immediately headed towards the other end of the hallway. She recalled coming across a room near the staircase. If she hadn't calculated wrong then that was the room she would be spending her future in.
It didn't take long for her to find that room and as she entered inside, she was pleased to see that her guess was pretty much right. A small smile of satisfaction appeared on her lips as she noticed the vines that were entering the room through the open window.
"Who left that window open?"
She heard Lord Kenric muttering under his breath from beside her as his eyes inspected the vines that had spread across the walls and ceilings of the room.
"We should go and look for other rooms." He said as he gave the room a dissatisfied glare.
"But I want to stay here. I like them... the vines." Annalise hurriedly said before the man could have walked out of the room.
She watched as Lord Kenric looked at her while arching his eyebrows in question but it seemed like he realized what was going on pretty soon as a small smile appeared on his lips as he shook his head.
"A light fae. Understandable. But I don't think I'll be able to help you with cleaning of this room. My spells would probably end up destroying these vines." He said while once again looking around the room at the vines.
Annalise quickly shook her head as she excitedly stated, "You don't have to worry about that, My Lord. I'll take care of this place along with Sera."
"Sera?" Kenric questioned at the mention of an unfamiliar name.
"Ah... she's my maid. She is waiting outside the castle along with the rest of the servants." Annalise felt quite embarrassed as she mentioned the servants that her family had sent with her. She only wanted to bring Sera with her but her mother refused to listen to any sort of reasoning.
"We will settle that tomorrow. You should rest now." Kenric responded as he felt another smile slipping on his lips. It was taking quite some effort for him to not lose his hold on his emotions. The woman standing in front of him was quite a charmer. He didn't expect to like her immediately after their first meeting.
She was nothing like what he and his brothers were expecting. Though it was still too early to judge her personality but so far he hadn't found a single thing to dislike about her. Maybe the coming days won't be as bad as he was picturing.
