They both laughed, but the laughter died into the utter weirdness of being in a place where time had been distorted like this. The butterflies flapped their blue and orange wings. Mariana felt something tickling her leg; it was a mouse. There were no people around here, but there was a hill down the path they were treading. It arose from the valley, the lone elevated surface in sight. The sides of the hill were also covered in lush vegetation.
Mariana looked towards the sky, seeing the same sun that had always given its light to the world.
"We could just stay here forever," she mused. "Do we have to kill anyone?"
Daniel shook his head. "We have seven days until we are transported back into the present moment."
"Oh, I see. And we are to find a witch?"
"The witch, not a witch, at this point at least. There is only one, and there will not be another one if we catch this one." The pirate king started to lead the way out of the vegetation.
