"Arthur, Evan…fuck you two."
Idrilla was simply expressing her anger, and the boys understood this, but Evan chose to react as though he took her words literally.
"Hell no! Why would I do that when my fiancée exists?"
"Fiancée? You're engaged?"
Arthur and Artemisia's attention shifted entirely to this unexpected detail, their concerns about the Bounded Field momentarily forgotten.
"Yeah. Got engaged like a week before I got sent here."
Evan replied with a casual shrug, glancing down at his left hand, where his engagement ring should have rested.
He hadn't lost it; he'd simply taken it off.
"That's rough…"
"Tell me something I don't know…"
Evan responded to Arthur's sympathetic tone with a dry laugh. Artemisia, however, narrowed her gaze at him, her curiosity bubbling to the surface.
"Was I there?"
Her question was vague, but Evan understood she was referring to the moment that led to his time displacement.
