Chapter 11 - One Knock

"It is dangerous to keep on staying at your place, Akina." Hakki told her. "Yeah? Well, you can't just cast a spell that gargles out thousands or hundreds of sacks of money, right?" She got pissed off as soon as she heard the implications of moving out.

"I still have to maintain being a student, Hakki." She retorted back. Hakki sighed. "You are correct. I should not ask for this much from you, humans are known to be entrenched in one place at a time in their lives, after all. Sorry about that." Hakki apologized.

"What's up with this 'Tenebris' fellow anyway? Why can't we just find his ass and pummel it to the ground?" Akina Sumeragi asked the Kyoshi spirit. "Because that guy is the real deal, as I have told you earlier. He is ruthless. And he chooses the best vessels to possess, so if it comes down to a battle of physical capabilities, I am still not sure if we can win as we are right now." Hakki sounded quite down as he said that. "I mean the last Spirit Tournament he literally possessed the body of the strongest samurai in this country, that ended as well as you would have suspected…"

Akina's eyebrows raised as she took a sip out of her glass. "Did Tenebris win, then?" Akina asked. "He did more than win. He did not even give a chance for any one of us to stand toe to toe against him, we were just annihilated." Hakki said shamefully.

"Oh, yikes…" Akina Sumeragi also felt the depressing wave of imminent doom and destruction by the Spirit known as Tenebris the Lux Eater. "Well, I guess he can't just earn a badass nickname for no reason, eh?" She replied.

Hakki stood up and stared at the window. "Man, I have been trying to get in contact with these fools for days now, where the hell are they?!" Hakki exclaimed.

"Relax, who are you calling for anyway?" Akina was curious. "I am trying to pull in some favors from a past life, that is about the easiest way that I can condense that information to you."

It was still afternoon but the sun was slowly setting. "You are going to have to tell me who you are summoning, you are in my household and whatever I say has to go, Hakki. Unless you want to sleep outside." Akina was taking no shit at all, she wanted to know everything.

Hakki finally gave in. "Fine. As you know, there are a lot of spirits in the world, but we Kiyoshi Spirits are generally regarded as the ones on top of the 'spirit tier list' in terms of strength. The spirits who work alongside humans without possession or any other shenanigans have made an organization in this country to safeguard the human populace against spirits. Those are the kind of people I am trying to call, Akina." Hakki got fatigued from his lengthy explanation.

A knock on the door was heard. Hakki immediately summoned his bow and gave it to Akina Sumeragi. "Better safe than sorry, right?" He asked. She nodded with a fierce look of determination on her face.
