Chapter 5 - "Father!! Why?"

"Father!" The child shouts once more into the ears of Timeo. Trepidation befalls the face of Timeo who looks around himself almost oblivious to the fact that the darkness in which he had fallen into made it impossible to see. "Father!" the voice of the same boy shouted once still and again he heard it "Father!" The fear in his facial expression intensified. He could barely walk straight anymore. Then, as though having been given a hint, he stopped, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He tried to collect his thoughts and that he did. The result was quite interesting. He was no longer just hearing the voice but he could also visualize the boy who was shouting.

It was him, young and scared and bounded by chains but given a full view of processions. In the distance he saw why he was shouting. One who had all the physical stature that he possessed at present, his father. was being murdered right before his very eyes. It was the two that he had encountered in the graveyard that were draining him of his life force. Within less than a minute, he was gone. No body, no remains, absolutely nothing. Fear, grief and anger overshadowed the boy. He knew he was to suffer the same fate. So the boy was brought to the center and the ceremony began. The two began to drain the life force just ad they had done to his father. But on this occasion things didn't go as intended. The boy was in fear, trembling in fear for that matter. But this for some reason only made him stronger. The two couldn't fully exercise their authority over the little boy. "No!!" shouted the boy with great power behind his words. The words of the boy along with his fear unleased a power of the boy that no one, not even the boy himself was aware. A bright light sourcing from the boy shined out and filled the room right before the most violent of explosions. It was a violent spectacle that left damage all around. But the boy was nowhere to be found.

The vision ended and he found himself back outside the cave with the three hags he had left outside. "What was that?" He asked with great trepidation. "That is your greatest fear." said the hag in the middle. "Your father committed quite the atrocity. That's why he was destroyed. What atrocity he committed you must find out for yourself." said the one to the left as the one to the right handed him an old, brown, weary book. "This has the answers you need my Lord" said the one in the middle. "Remember these words my Lord, 'Fear is just an Illusion that hides ones strength.'" said the one on the middle again as all three disappeared into darkness. He couldn't care less however as he turns his full attention to the book he'd been handed.

He returned to his throne and sat still fully focused on the book he had in hand. What was he to find? What atrocity did his father commit that was so great that he had to be executed? And if his father was so powerful, why didn't he save himself or atleast his son? There were so many unanswered questions that the book possible had the answers to. The book didn't look any better than a tattered old newspaper, only thicker. the bring colored cover did a good job if hiding the dust that laid in the book atleast until he touched it and saw the dust. He finally finds the conviction to open the book. it glows a bright white light color that would blind any man. But the conviction in the eyes of Timeo makes him strong enough to look it straight down as though it were nothing. He is determined to find answers.

And there they were. Answers upon answers of pages. His face cringed more and more as he read on. By the time he had reached the last page his face had been overcome by rage. He cringed at the last sentence and stiffened his fist. "To me!" he screamed and the three hags he was with returned to his feet at once. They were in fear that could be seen from miles away. "My father was killed because of me?" "Yes my Lord." The one in the middle gathered the courage to answer. "What wrong is there if I were conceived of human blood. I am still of his blood, I am still the heir. Why couldn't they leave my father be?" as he said these words the whole cavern shaked as his eyes increased in glow. "It is against everything that your father's people stood for my Lord. They view humans as nothing more than a source of power. It's unthinkable to them to have a ruler with the slightest connection to such a lower life form." the one to the left replied. "I see" he said as he calmed down and the cavern stabilized. "So what is this place?" "It is our home. We come from a more ancient society, one that was more welcoming of your father's inquisitive approach to the human world. He learned about our forgotten existence and came to learn more about humans. We granted him his wish, not out of will, but trepidation. We warned your father of the consequences of involving himself in human affairs and even more so about telling his people, but your father would not listen. He fell in love with a human woman and you were conceived in the process. But you had more of your father in you. You couldn't survive in the human world so you were brought to this world a presented to the kingdom by your father. The result is what you found in the cave of fear."
