The sun started to rise, and I was stuck with so much yelling in my head with all my thoughts. Oh my god— I forgot to check for missions! I mentally scream to myself. No mission, no money you dumb idiot! Not only that, I also lost a huge deal of getting free money and wine! I feel like turning back to check but I'm already so far from the tavern.
I grab my bag of coins from my side pocket and I see a piece of paper fall out of it. Now when the hell did that get in my pocket? I squat down to pick it up from the ground.
Thought you were busy so I decided to leave a note instead. If you're still up for that deal, meet me at the Lockwood village in five days.
Lockwood… I guess I can go. If I remember correctly it's near the village I'm heading to right now. I stand up and stretch my arms. Am I really going to go meet up with that weird stalker? I stare at the paper. Seriously, I sigh. My brain says yes but my gut says no.
I grab a coin out of my little bag. Heads yes, tails no. I place the coin between my thumb and pointer and flick it up in the air. In a flash I quickly grab it again and smack it hard onto my back hand. Heads.
"Well… atleast I can just blame the coin if anything goes wrong right?" I tell myself.
I put the coin and paper back into my little bag and headed toward where I think Lockwood was. When I have enough money, I should really buy a map or a compass.
I actually used to have a compass. It wasn't special in any way. Just a cheap one I found that was about 20 copper coins from the black market. Sometimes I go to the black market to find some good deals for traveling equipment. It lives up to its expectations of being the black market. Very secretive, but they do give good deals. Well… most of them.
I remember one time very recently, about 2 months ago. I came across the black market and decided to roam around. Packed with many people, mostly men in this case. All either wearing cloaks or equipped with heavy armor and weapons. I didn't wear a cloak or heavy armor like the rest. I preferred not looking like a big chunk of iron like others or a weirdo who prefers to hide their face.
Each stall in there had their own unique touches to each and every one of them. And all you here are the merchants trying to showcase all their products to catch people's attention. They were all beauties but I wasn't gonna waste my money that easily. Pft… stupid Andrew you already know that you might spend your money on something stupid again. And your broke ass can't afford losing any more money. A little voice spat at me. Oh shut it! I sigh. I seriously should stop talking to myself.
"Come! Come! Don't be afraid! Ms. Florantina awaits your arrival to reveal the future!" A man shouted to the crowd. I stopped and turned to the direction of the voice. It was a dark skinned boy around the age of 14. Quiet young for a child like him to be around a place like this. Even so, that did catch my attention quite a lot. Ohoho~ Wait— No bad Andrew no. Don't waste your money on something like that. "Buy a fortune and get one more for free!" Fuck it im going.
I turn my heel and march my way to the fortune stand. "How much for one fortune?"
"15 coins sir!" the vendor said cheerfully. I whipped out the 15 coins. "Thank you for your cooperation kind sir! Please follow me this way!"
He waves to me to follow him and we head behind the stall. Behind the stall was a bunch of draped cloth. The clothes were all different colors, the one on the right was a dark red cloth. Another one on the side of it was purple, and another green. But one thing that was similar about each and everyone of these clothes. They had this strangely weird symbol on all of them.
"Hello there child. Come in. Come in. I have been expecting you." a ladies voice spoke from behind the curtains.
The boy lifts up the curtain, "Come on in. Ms. Florantina awaits you on the other side." he grins and gestures me inside. Okay… Kinda creepy. Maybe I should have ignored this one also.
"Come now, don't be shy, I won't bite." She laughs
"You may not bite, but do you stab?" I questioned.
She burst out laughing. "You are a very odd child arenʻt you," she says while still trying to calm herself down.
"Yes I do get many comments similar to your statement." I admitted, I sit down and get myself comfortable in front of the fortune lady. This whole thing seems like any other typical fortune teller. There are 3 things that every fortune teller I have met have ever had;
number one - very dark and suspicious room (check)
number two - women all wrapped up in cloth but cut out an opening at the mouth (check)
number three - a magic crystal (check)
Did I just fall for another scam again? Dammit.
"What seems to have you on edge child?" Knowing I have wasted 15 coins on a fortune. "Is life troubling you?" She waves her hands around the magic crystal.
"Not really," I shrugged. I just wish I had my 15 coins back now.
"Hmm…" she mumbles. She continued to wave her hands while staring intently at the crystal ball. She stops for a quick moment. She raises her head to me, mumbling to herself. Weird. "A change in your life shall happen, one that will change your life forever."
"Sorry lady, not to be rude or anything but isnʻt life already filled with changes?" I ask her. "What is the point of telling me this?"
"You are right child. Life is full of changes, but I must warn you… this one will be very dangerous and I deeply encourage you to look out."
