This brings up a lot of things about the catholic faith that as a Christian ISN'T from the regular Christian faith [Not just protestant but from any denomination other than catholic] which Is kind of awkward.
Christians believe that there are two of the many sins we should not commit:
Praying to false ☪idols☸ [Idolatry]
Talking to the dead [Necromancy] ⚰
Praying to Saints is both. You are only supposed to pray to God, not Mary or any of his disciples.
Though I have no issue with his mother, I still believe you shouldn't pray to her.
Why do I say this? Well, God wouldn't be happy with people praying to others other than him, even if it's his own disciples.
You also need to stop praying to angels as God doesn't like that.
When one guy thought an angel was God, the angel simply yelled out "Don't pray to me, I'm not God," In a stern voice.
The angel had a LOT riding on how he responded to that situation.
Some Catholics and those of other religions may not understand why [While most will, I hope] so I will explain it.
Angels have been kicked out of heaven [Satan being the main one] for trying to take God's place.
This angel can not only lose his status, job, salvation, livelihood, and the respect of his previous peers, but also he will displease God which is definitely not what he wants.
Not only that, but in Revalations, an even worse fate can come upon him.
He could also lose his home [Being heaven]
Like, an angel would be put into EXILE.
I will elaborate on why you shouldn't trust an angel that ALLOWS you to pray to it later on in another chapter.
But back to praying to saints, not only is it a form of idolatry, it is a form of talking to the dead.
All those saints are dead.
It is forbidden to speak to the dead.
There is something called familiar spirits, a spirit that pretends to be a dead person in order to gain your trust [Or whatever it wants from you]
This is what you could be seeing when you see these spirits pretending to be saints.
Put two-and-two together, if the saint died 600 years ago, wouldn't talking to him be a form of necromancy because he is dead right now as we speak?
You could easily say:
"But Jesus died," but he rose again, he's not dead anymore.
He rose again three days after his Crucifixion in the Bible.
You think he's dead, but he isn't.
So, praying to him is NOT a sin and never will be and never was.
All of those saints are HAPPILY in Heaven. They are praying to THE ONE TRUE GOD, JESUS CHRIST.
Jesus is God, so you should only pray to him and not these other saints.
