Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Late Night Job

It was a stormy night around six pm when I was driving down the road. On my way back to the Woodland City where I was assigned to do my duty as a police officer. I've been driving for like hours in the countryside and there's still no sign of any tall buildings or busy streets so of course, I'm hoping that I could see a gas station soon and stop by to grab some snacks and take a short nap before heading back on the road.

"If only I didn't eat that damn taco, I wouldn't have to drive this goddamn long in the middle of a stormy night. Last thing I want to happen is to go report to the police department while wearing a wet uniform." I said grumbly.

As I'm jamming to the midnight summer rock songs, a dispatch call suddenly came and I immediately answer the call.

"This is Eagle-Eye to Firefox, do you copy? Over." Eagle-Eye said from the radio.

"This is Firefox to Eagle-Eye, What can I help you? Over." I replied.

"We've received a distress call somewhere in the woods close to your location. The last location of the caller were 10 kilometers away from the main road before their GPS disappeared. The caller sounds really distressed and are in panic before the call ended. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get more information. They hang up the call before we could ask for more questions. Firefox, you must go and investigate the area as soon as possible, over." Eagle-Eye said with a very cold tone, like usual.

"Copy, Eagle-Eye. Will do, over." I replied as I realized that I just jinxed myself and now I'll be getting wet and have to report to Eagle-Eye in a very cold and wet uniform. Great.

"Copy, I will send more officers in your area just in case if things were more serious. They'll be there, ETA-2 hours. Good luck, over." Eagle-Eye said before ending the transmission.

"(Sigh) Guess I'll just have to wrap this up quickly and head to a public hot bath after my report to eagle eye." I said tiredly as I park my cruiser on the side of the road.

"Pistol, check. Magazines, check. Radio, check. Handcuffs, check. Medkit, check. Flashlight, check. Finally, my dashcam, perfectly working." I said as I check my gear, making sure I have everything I need before heading out.

"(Takes a deep breath) Alright, here goes nothing." I said as I left the cruiser and enter the woods.

Fortunately, woods are not as dense as the forest so there's enough room for me to maneuver without tripping on roots and other things. But because it was raining so hard, the visibility is really low and even with my flashlight, everything around me is pitch black. This is gonna be more difficult than I thought.
