Growing up a human amongst humans, I never understood why some of them feared the woods.
The peace I felt here was associated with many things, this new yearning for darkness, transcending above life and death in Montana… I had many negative episodes in those same woods, but what I ended up with was a permanent appreciation for them. They were a sanctuary.
I stopped walking, realizing just what a hypocrite I have become.
I was blaming humans for not going further beyond their fears to try to get closer to this place that only monsters like me fully enjoyed. They must have instincts like werewolves, ones that urged them to protect themselves from the hidden truths of what else is out there beside them.
There was someone else beside me here too.
"Have you finally run out of options and come here to ask for a face-off with me this time?"
His foot hesitated, "No," he answered wholeheartedly.
