The rogue threw his neck back, but the rest of his body hung on an invisible cross.
I consciously tried to see how he was doing it — he acted as a medium that channeled a mind-controlling link throughout the room — It took me three-quarters of a second to understand that my claimed ones were not affected by it.
It was sickening.
Not that Liam destroyed my trust… not that I had no idea how to proceed with a relationship with him, or whether or not I wanted to have a relationship with him in the future...
It was sickening how his twisted behavior still caught me off guard. He still managed to surprise me. He was still able to sink lower in the depths he dug for himself the day he left my side to go on his own.
I thought we had a mutual understanding. I thought we were giving each other enough personal space while we did what we had to do. And because of that, I had no guide on how to interact with the brother that betrayed me.
