My white paws were brown now with all the pacing.
Even if it wasn't for the heavy dose of Alpha pheromones, his howl was bound to gather wolves around us. It was a sign of their loyalty to an Alpha who cried his pack-less state out. They were — much like me — horror-struck by the size of my mate who was significantly larger than my already bigger-than-usual-sized wolf.
They respectfully continued to watch us.
By the time the first wolf arrived, he had released me already. I knew I started it, so I carried my tail high and stood tall. This was my territory, and asking for my submission was the same as fighting me for Alpha. Something he had every right to do for sure. It was his father's pack.
We weren't fighting with claws and roars; it was highly ritualistic. We were just showing off, rotating in circles, measuring each other's pheromones and agility. After that one time that he went for the bite, not once did he attack again.
