Chapter 85 - Chapter Eighty Six

Bakugo made you eat the rest of your lunch before letting the two of you exit the café, he worried about your unknown healing quirk and needed to make sure you ate enough.

As you two made your way towards the shooting range, your hand brushed against his, you could feel the faint heat of a blush rising to your cheeks. You quickly focused your attention on the semi outdoor shooting range ahead, signing up, receiving your gear and sign out two guns.

Bakugo took the lead, with only one open spot available you had to take turns. He confidently grabbed the handgun, while he took aim and fired, his movements were smooth and practiced. His hits hit the target hanging out in the twenty-yard line with precision, you glanced at him, feeling impressed by his skill.

After Bakugo emptied the clip while you clicked the button to bring the target over.

"Not bad." You commented, seeing his shots were all grouped around the chest area.

"Hmph." Bakugo gloated, "Let's see you do better!"

"Alright." You smirked, picking up your gun as Bakugo placed a new paper target on the line, sending it out to the twenty-yard line. "You can go farther." You commented, checking the clip.

"What?" Bakugo turned, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. However, you couldn't help the smirk on your face as your fingers confidently pressed the button, sending the target the entire forty yards down the range. "No way can you-"

Before he could finish, you cut him off by swiftly aiming and firing the gun. The recoil of the firearm barely registered as you emptied the clip with seamless precision. Once done, you calmly placed the gun back on the stand before turning to face Bakugo.

His laughter filled the air, a mix of astonishment and amusement in his expression. He reached over you, his fingers brushing against your shoulder as he pressed the button to bring in the target for inspection. The paper target came closer, revealing the pattern of shots you had just made.

You felt his gaze on you, his crimson eyes locking onto yours. Time seemed to slow as you stared into those intense eyes, a swirl of emotions and unspoken words passing between you. The burning intensity in his eyes captivated you, drawing you in like a moth to a flame.

For a moment, the world around you faded away, leaving only the two of you in that shared space. It was as if everything else ceased to exist, and you found yourself getting lost in the intricate details of his gaze, the way his eyes held both fire and determination—the same pair you used to dream about at night.

The spell was broken only when the target reached its destination, singing off a ray of beeps. Bakugo's fingers brushed against your shoulder once more as he retreated his arm. The noise of the shooting range began to filter back in, and the world snapped back into focus. As you two compared the two targets, you felt the charged energy lingering in the air, all the unspoken words seemed to hang between you. You glanced up at Bakugo, feeling as if something had shifted between the two of you.

"I'm telling you, mine's the winner." Bakugo gestured, you cleared your throat pulling yourself out of your thoughts and onto the challenge.

"This one?" You pointed to the target in his hand.

"Yes." Bakugo triumphally nodded.

"That one's mine."

"No, it's not!" Bakugo did a double take, clearly baffled.

"That is my name." You laughed, pointing to the scribbled writing in the corner.

"Hah!?" Bakugo glare was directed at the paper, almost as if it had personally betrayed him.

You chuckled, giving his back a light pat. "You'll get it next time." With a glance at the growing line of people waiting for their turn, you realized it was time to move on.

"There'll be a next time?" Bakugo's question caught you off guard, freezing you in your tracks.

"Y-Yeah-" You nod, "-if you up to getting your ass kicked again."

Bakugo's lips curled into a smirk, his signature confidence returning. "Just you wait, next time that target's going to have my name all over it!"

You chuckled with an eye roll. "Keep telling yourself that champ."

"Are you guys done yet?" The line complained.

"Wait your damn turn!" Bakugo barked, glaring over the top of your head.

"Come on." You nod.

"I want a rematch!" Bakugo declared, earning a few complaints from the people waiting in line. Bakugo shot them a quick glare, silencing their objections.

"It's your turn to follow me." You say, efficiently returning your weapon and gear. You and Bakugo exited the shooting range. The bright sun hit your eye, causing you to come to an abrupt stop.

"What are we doing?" Bakugo's voice was laced with concern, his chest pressing against your back as he reacted to your sudden halt. "Are you ok!?" His grip tightened on your arms.

"I'm fine." You blinked rapidly, trying to ease the sting in your eyes.

"But-"

"I'm still getting use to the sunlight." You replied, voice strained as you continued to rub your eyes to alleviate the discomfort.

"Because Shooter forced you to wear that damn mask?" Bakugo's irritation was evident in his tone.

"Pretty much." You confirmed, still pressed against Bakugo as he patiently waited for your eyes to adjust to the sudden change in lighting.

"Where did you wanna go?" Bakugo tried diverting your mind off your watering eyes.

"I was going to buy the sore loser a drink." You chuckled.

"Someone's joining us?" Bakugo smirked; you playfully smacked his chest.

You finally felt your eyes adjust, and the world around you became clearer. Bakugo's face came into focus, his intense crimson eyes studying your reaction. A slight blush dusted your cheeks as you realized how close the two of you were.

"I saw a uh-" You cleared your throat, "-a beer garden not too far from here."

"Ok." Bakugo nods, making no movement to place distance between the two of you. "Lead the way, Princess."

You two walked side by side and a familiar voice caught your attention.

"Hey (y.n)-!" You turned your head, "-Bakugo!"

"What the hell?" Bakugo breathed, spotting Toru and her cheery greeting waving at you from a distance.

You exchanged a glance with Bakugo who was holding a puzzled expression. He hadn't mentioned the fair to anyone, how did she know you two were here?

"Guess what!?" Toru's excitement was visibly scribbled across her face as she reached the two of you, she didn't seem to notice the awkward tension brewing. "The tickets to the amusement park were limited but I managed to get one, so I thought I'd join you guys!"

"What?" Bakugo's eyebrow arched, crimson eyes fixating on Toru with a mix of disbelief and irritation as he watched in disbelief his plans for the fireworks show shattered before him.
