Chapter 69 - Chapter Seventy

"Our entire case is going up in flames over some thug who sold people for a living!?" Shiro belts, you instantly kick him on the ankle under the table.

"I thought you didn't remember what happened?" Naomasa crossed his arms as an accusing tone settled over his voice.

"We only remember the end result-" You hastily replied, "-because when we walked into that warehouse, we found four children chained up, a scene like that burns a hole in your memory you can never forget."

Shiro's gaze slid over to you, whose lies were smoother than butter.

"As you know Shooter used heroes as a front for his operation and what we have come to find is some of those so-called heroes were in on Shooter's plan and weren't being forced-" Naomasa rubs his forehead. "-the ones we caught are all playing the victim card, trying to rat on others so they can cut a deal, it's all a he-said, she-said situation right now."

"This is bullshit." Gray leaned against his chair.

"That may be-" Naomasa nods.

"When are you gonna let us tell our side-?" Gray wondered, "-so far, it's all been ratting people out, signing NDAs and connecting dots for you, when do we get to bring in the heroes we worked beside and the people we saved as character witnesses, when do we do that?"

"All in good time-" Naomasa went to promise.

"Do we even have time?" You pulled your brows together, "You're over there saying we're on a sinking boat and yet you're not doing anything that will save the ship."

"Trust me, I'm doing everything I can-"

"Then why does it feel like you're a hammer putting more nails in our coffin?" Shiro snarled.

"I'm sorry you feel that way Seven." Naomasa nods. You glanced at the time, it was nearing ten o'clock, you knew he had long gone to bed by now—you frowned—you didn't care you weren't going to see him again tonight.

"Let's call it for the night-" Naomasa massaged his stiff neck. "-we will pick up tomorrow-"

"What-?" Gray looked up, "-no."

"No?" Naomasa repeats.

"We have the Star Festival tomorrow with our families, remember?" Gray reminded, "You said we could have the day off-"

"Unfortunately, that agreement cannot be uphold-" Naomasa went to convey.

"Why!?" Gray sat up.

"Because of this video being leaked, we only bought ourselves a few days before it's given to the media, we need to get ahead of this before-"

"You know who has the video?" You questioned.

"Yes?" Naomasa turned, "But I'm not at liberty to discuss-"

"Tell us who and we'll go deal with them." You leaned on the table.

"N-No-!" Naomasa blurts out, "-I've seen how you deal with people who don't agree with you."

"Are we sure this guys on our side?" Shiro turned to you.

"I'm not sure." Gray leaned over, wanting to be in the conversation.

"I can hear you." Naomasa pinched his displeased face.

"And yet you're not correcting any of our suspicion." Shiro shoots back.

"Like wise." Naomasa stood his ground.

"We will not be here tomorrow-" You avoided your braced leg while standing. "-you agreed to give us the day off, and frankly I think we all need it-"

"What is one day off going to do Five?" Naomasa interjected.

"Not make me wanna empty a clip into you." You shrug.

Naomasa's face twisted into a horrified expression; you could almost see the alarms going off in his head.

"It was a fucking joke." You sighed, pushing in your chair.

"You have a terrible sense of humor!" Naomasa points, reminding you of All Might in this moment.

"Si-Sir the agreement." Naomasa partner timidly spoke.

"We talked about this." He harshly whispered, shooting her a scowl.

"What agreement?" You glanced at Shiro and gray who halted by the door.

"Nothing." Naomasa cleared his throat.

"If you're not gonna share the full truth, why should we?" You countered, placing a hand in your jacket pocket.

The worn-out officer let out a sigh of defeat before tugging out a neatly folded packet, sliding it across the table, you caught it with your exposed hand.

"The HPSC is tired of having your names in the media, they want to get this over with-" The partner explains.

"You mean brush it under the rug." Shiro clarifies.

"That document is nothing but legal mush." The partner waves as you flip through a few pages.

"All that states is..." Naomasa hesitates for a moment, "...is that one bullet will plead guilty to the accusations against the Seven Bullets, allowing the other two to walk-"

"Are you out of your fucking mind!?" Shiro and Gray howl, slamming the door shut, stomping back to your side.

"The two bullets who walk will be on a five-year probation minimum; they will be required to be tagged with an ankle monitor for three years and be restricted to the city limits and have their hero license expelled...never able to perform hero work again..." Naomasa refused to make eye-contact with any of the Bullets.

"Are you and your colleagues smoking the Mary Jane on your work breaks?" Shiro picked his jaw up off the floor, "There's no way any of us are signing that!"

"To sign that would mean we did something wrong, which we didn't." Gray added. "That is a steaming pile of fuckury. If that's your best, you can fuck off and let us find someone who will fight for us!"

"I wasn't going to bring up this agreement." Naomasa safeguards himself.

"Mhm right-" Shiro flashes his teeth, "-and you just so happen to have it on your person instead of cramming it up the HPSCs ass?"

"Lets...let's meet back together here on Monday then go over-" Naomasa ducked the statement.

"A whole two days off-!?" Shiro sourly mocked, "-careful Naomasa you might start to spoil us!"

"Before you go-" Naomasa pulled a second thinner folder from his bag, daring to steal a glance he quickly shot around, seeing how Gray was already out of the room with you and Shiro quickly following. "-wait we need to talk about-!"

"Why would we talk about what we are gonna talk about for the next meeting?" Shiro glowered. "If you don't wanna go home Naomasa, just say that, but don't keep us here." With his words lingering in the air, you exited the room on Shiro's heels.

The walk to the dorms was tense, you felt the rage seeping from Shiro and Gray, you could almost cut the tension with a knife.

"I'm going to do it." Gray announced out of the blue, tugging you away from your nagging thoughts.

"Do what-?" Shiro raised an eyebrow. "-that move your girl wanted to try but you pussed out-?"

"I told you that in confidence-!" Gray slapped Shiro's arm, as you took the first step to walk into the dormitory, Gray hesitated causing you and Shiro to turn. "-I'm going to take the deal."

Shiro and you held the same puzzled expression, glancing to one another.

"-the fuck you are." You broke the strangling silence.

"I already made up my mind." Gray crammed his hands into his pockets.

"How-!?" Shiro hops off the steps, "-there's nothing even in there!"

"Fuck you-!" Gray retorts. "-I'm doing this!"

"You're getting married-" You shook your head, "-you have a kid, how fucking stupid are you?"

"Listen-" Gray puts up a hand. "-you two saved my ass more times than I can count, it's my turn-"

"Hell no." You cut him off. "You're not going to watch your kid grow up through bars Gray, I won't let that happen."

"What are you gonna do Five?" Gray challenged; this caused you to tilt your head.

"I'll take the fucking deal-" You stepped down from the stair. "-and I'll kick your ass before they can put the handcuffs on."

"No way in hell are you signing shit (y.n)!" Shiro waved his hands, struggling to raise his voice over you and Gray.

"I'll do whatever I damn well please."

"Not if you go to prison!" Shiro stressed.

"Why do you get to be the one who decides who takes the deal?" Gray placed a hand on is hip.

"Simple." You replied.

"No, it's fucking not!" Shiro exasperated.

"You two can see the light at the end of this tunnel we're in-" You look them in the eye. "-I don't, I'm just tired of the tunnel and I know it only ends up one way for me—bloody."
