Chereads / Mine (Bakugo x Reader) / Chapter 40 - Chapter Thirty Nine

Chapter 40 - Chapter Thirty Nine

All Might let out a shaky breath, looking to Mr. Principal who nodded. Aizawa waited on the sidelines for the two of you to join the line of wallflowers. You glanced over Bakugo a few feet ahead of you. Your eyes trailed over the defined contours of his back muscles his shirt did little to hide.

You were about to yawn but were cut short, you jumped back, a blade sliced the air inches from your stomach. Quickly bringing your arm up you knocked one of the clones down, spinning on your heel you took the other two down quickly. Pirouetting a rush of adrenaline coated your weary bones, your eyes glowed as lightning filled your hand, you whipped it across aiming for Ectoplasm and his three clones standing beside him.

"This wasn't the deal." You bite, as he surrounds you with more clones.

"Bakugo was going easy on you." Ectoplasm replies.

"Easy-?" You scoff, "-were we at the same fight?"

"We said no quirks."

"Oh, so that excludes you?" You cocked your head to the side, gesturing to the clones.

"I said that's enough!" Aizawa darkened voice turned your head, surprised to see him standing beside you, eyes glowing red, his scarf wrapped around Ectoplasms wrist.

"He was going easy-"

"He wasn't." All Might came to Bakugo's defense. "If he was going easy on her, you think he would have landed any hits during the fight?"

"This test is a failure-" Ectoplasm retort.

"I don't believe it is." Mr. Principal's reasoning voice carried over the waterfall of displeased comments. "I believe Bakugo and (y/n) held an honest match."

"You can't be serious." Ectoplasm turns to the stout man, "She is slower-"

"You forget-" Mr. Principal points out, "-she isn't in a fighting condition. Her status has been officially grounded. This test was conducted against her doctor's advice-"

"What?" Bakugo and Mina frowned, looking at you who held your famous neutral gaze. Everyone was talking about you like you weren't here, so could you go?

"The only reason she is even standing right now is due to the HPSC and the school board demanding this test be completed before her case can even be looked at by the new officer-"

Bakugo and Mina glanced at one another.

"-and I believe she passed."

"She hasn't done enough-"

"Then get on the news-" Midnight crossed her arms. "-look at what she has done for hero work and then come to us and say she hasn't done enough."

"She got Crust killed; what's stopping her from getting one of our students-"

"Excuse me?" Your head whipped around so fast you felt the whiplash in your skull. You weren't going to stand by and be insulted. "I didn't get anyone killed."

"It was certainly-"

"I'm sorry-" You raised your hand, "-I wasn't aware you were there that day. If so, why the hell didn't you step in and do something?"

"Five-" Snipe went to stop you.

"No." You shook your head, stepping closer to Ectoplasm eyes glowing with vexation. "I yelled at Crust to get out of that room, but he didn't-"

"You could have saved him."

"How would you know-?" You stepped closer, getting into his face. "-better yet-" You smirk, "-why are you even talking to me?"

"Excuse me?"

"When was the last time you stepped out in the field?" You felt the bitter laughter bubbling inside your chest. "Because if you think I am going to stand here and take shit from a washed-up teacher that couldn't hack it then you're out of your damn mind-"

"How dare you-!"

"You can go now." You waved him off.

"You need me-!" Ectoplasm spits through his teeth, breaking is normal composure.

"I already went through your bunny hop and jumped through your hoops once. I'm not doing it again, in fact, if this is up to you then you can take this test and shove it up your-"

"Alright-!" Aizawa and All Might stepped in separating the two of you. Bakugo quickly followed pushing you backwards away from Ectoplasm. His hands rested on your hips as he stood in front of you, acting as a barricade.

"(y/n)-" His deep voice would have caused shivers to roll down your spine and your stomach to flip if you weren't locked onto Ectoplasm with the intense desire to rip off that jaw guard and shove it up his ass.

"I fail you." Ectoplasm pointed.

"Yeah? You need some help shoving that vote up your-?" You spat back but Bakugo placed his hand over your mouth, muffling your words.

Class C1-A stood off on the sidelines, mouths hanging open. They were in awe watching how you can transition from standing before them as a student to a full fledge hero, never backing down against a fellow pro-hero.

"Calm down." Bakugo ordered; your pinched face snapped up causing him to smirk. Bakugo was no longer a few inches taller than you; he stood a whole foot taller. You had to look up to glare.

Ectoplasm was escorted from the room by Midnight and Snipe.

"Well on the bright side you need six votes to pass." All Might grinned, trying to lighten the mood as Bakugo brought you to the sidelines where everyone waited.

"What do you mean six votes?" Momo questioned.

"(y/n) needs more than half the votes of the teachers present to be allowed into U.A." Midnight explains, "That is why we are all gathered here."

"Oh." Momo blinked, sneaking a peek over to you who puffed air from your lungs feeling agitated.

"Alright-" Mr. Principal clapped, "-let's get our vote so this can be-"

"Hey-" Ojiro waved, "-what about Kaminari?"

"Huh?" The blond blinked hearing this name.

"For (y/n)'s lightening quirk." Ojiro laughed, "Doesn't he have to go up against her?"

"Hah!?" Kaminari turned to the teachers feeling himself beginning to sweat.

"Hm-" Mr. Principal thought for a moment, "-we weren't going to, but if he is feeling left out, I am sure seeing (y/n)'s lightening quirk in person will be informative."

"Eh!?" Kaminari repeated turning to face you who held amusement in your eyes as forest green lightning flickered and cracked as it climbed over your body. You had some extra steam to get off your chest, you could go another round. "I-I think she has got that down!"

"I am sure you're right." Mr. Principle chuckled.

"Wait-" Momo frowned, "-what about her earth quirk too?"

"What do you mean?" Mr. Principle glanced at Aizawa.

"I understand why testing her lightening quirk isn't needed but what about her earth quirk?"

"Oh yeah-" Sero joined in, "-I forgot she made that trench during the Sports Festival our first year!"

"I don't have it." You lazily crammed your hands in your jacket, not noticing you never moved from being tucked into Bakugo's side.

"I don't understand." As the class looked to one another, you glanced over to Aizawa, and All Might who both nodded. This conversation was all up to you, and they would back up whatever you decided.

"I...I don't have it anymore." You could feel yourself clamming up, you couldn't bring yourself to look anyone in the face, especially since you broke out of character and acted a fool in front of everyone. Your head throbbed, all you craved was sleep and a cheeseburger.

"Well then, let's vote." Mr. Principal smiled. "All in favor?"

Every teacher raised their hands without question in their minds. This surprised you, and it showed on your face.

"We already know who is opposed so-" Mr. Principle grinned, "-(y/n), welcome back to U.A. school!" Applause and cheering broke out, you looked around seeing everyone cheering for you and for a second...did you feel back at home?

"This is all we have scheduled for today-" Aizawa stepped forward, looking down at you trying to gauge if you were ok or was your earth quirk a trigger for you? "-you are all free for the day."

"What?" Class C1-A frowned as Recovery Girl pulled you aside and placed your arm back in its sling. "What do you mean that's all we gotta do today? We haven't done anything-!"

All Might cleared his throat, nodding over to you who was walking towards the locker rooms not seeing a reason to stay if you had been excused for the day.

"Oh-!" Midoriya breathed, it finally clicking in his head the reason Aizawa had canceled the rest of the day. "-come on." Midoriya waved over to his classmates, gesturing to you.

"Oh!" Toru giggled, glancing at her teachers who smiled as they watched the class begin to jog their way after you. Heart fluttering with excitement and stomach twisted with anxiety finally getting a moment with you.

The gym doors opened just then.

"Chief?" All Might turned as the chief of police walked into the gym. A goofy smile on his face as he waved. The class slowed their jog until they halted in their tracks.

"Hello everyone."

"What are you doing here?" All Might questioned.

"I am hoping to steal Five for a little bit."

"She is grounded." All Might shakes his head, "She cannot be assigned-"

"I am not here to give her a mission." Chief Tsuragamae raised his hands in defense. "You don't need to worry; I just need to speak with her. Will you please come with me Five?"

Bakugo watched with disbelief as you turned from the locker room and walked over to the chief, he flashed a grin, waved to the students before taking you out of the gym.

"Oh, come on!" Mina whined throwing her hands in thew air.

----

"That was some show you put on." Chief Tsuragamae broke the thin ice, looking down as you sat on the bench looking up at the sky. The two of you sat in the courtyard, knowing it would be clear due to classes being in session.

"What's with the talk?" You cut to the chase, eyes burning with the desire to sleep as your stomach goes through its tantrum for food.

"Always right to the chase." Chief Tsuragamae smiled, "I wanted to personally thank you."

"Thank me?"

"For saving my wife."

"You don't need to thank me for doing my job."

"Not even the number one hero would have done what you did-" Chief Tsuragamae placed a hand on your knee. "-thank you Five, my wife is alive today because of you."

"Uh..." You weren't used to being thanked for almost losing your life. "...you're welcome?"

"I am also sorry for how Eizo and Officer Maeda treated you-" Chief Tsuragamae pulled his hand away as a seldom expression filled his features. "-I was not aware of the degree of disrespect they displayed when handling your case."

"It's fine-" You waved off with a light laugh, "-it's not the worst I have dealt with."

"That I do believe." Chief Tsuragamae sadly smiled, "In light of that, I have gotten your probation conditions altered."

"Altered?" You pulled your brows together, showing your confusion.

"Yes." Chief Tsuragamae nods, "I cannot completely get rid of your case, it has been given to a trusted friend who needs to go over everything and I won't lie it will take some time. But until then, while you are on U.A. grounds you are free."

"Really?" It's been a while since you have heard that word.

"Yes." Chief Tsuragamae sighs, "I wish I could have done more but-"

"No this is great-" You cut in, "-thank you."

"Well then-" Chief Tsuragamae stands, "-I should be getting back to the office, I do have a few meetings today."

"Have fun with that."

Chief Tsuragamae laughs at your comment has he pulls a folded piece of paper from his pocket.

"The number you asked me to get for you." He offers it, slowly you take it.

"Thanks."

"It was the least I could do." Chief Tsuragamae shakes his head, "I do hope you recover soon Five, we need more heroes like you out there."

You give a small nod before he turns to take his leave as you run your finger over the folded piece of paper. Chief Tsuragamae hesitates before turning back to face you.

"About your request-" Chief Tsuragamae grungily sighs.

"It wasn't a request." You sharply stated, slowly standing, placing all your weight on your right leg.

"Five-"

"If you don't let me in on the search for Shooter, I will hunt him down myself." You warn never removing your hard gaze before turning your back on the chief of police to head inside the school.
