Gray and Shiro got into the oversized van plopping down in the middle as Mina, Katsuki and Midoriya scrambled to get in the back while All Might and Aizawa jumped in the front. Midoriya didn't even have time to close the door when All Might took off speeding, leaving the accompanying officers in the dust.
Mina, Katsuki and Midoriya rattled off locations they believed held meaning to you, compiled a list and the U.A. teachers and police officers broke off into two groups, hoping to get through the list quicker, upping the odds of tracking you down before getting too far.
Shiro turned mindlessly gazing out the window, glancing around the silent car he leaned forward.
"Hey." He called Aizawa turned his head. "Can't the police take over searching for (y/n)?"
"What do you mean?"
"You guys head back home, and the police continue the search?" Shiro gestured, "What is hard about that to understand?" Aizawa and Shiro held a stalled-out stare before Aizawa faced forward.
"You're the one who said we didn't have much time to find her." Aizawa answered, "So we can't afford to waste it by stopping back at the school, dropping everyone off and hoping the police can rally up a few extra bodies to send out looking for her."
"Shiro-" Mina leaned forward, "-why don't you want us looking for (y/n)?" Shiro's hard eyes hovered over Mina for a brief second before turning to stare out the window once again. Mina huffed, seeing she wasn't going to get an answer, she plopped against the seat crossing her arms letting silence refill the vehicle.
Shiro's eyes glazed over as fragments of the past surfaced from down below.
Shiro glanced over as Gray spun around looking out at the thick forest surrounding the team before returning to peek through the vegetation, a lively party took place, their faint music just brushed over the team.
"What are we doing here?" Gray finally broke with a bored sigh.
"Yeah." Shiro agreed, "We are way off course, Shooter will have a gasketed if he found out we were this far off grid. We need to get back." The two were met with silence as you continued to stare into the party.
"Are you even listening!?" Gray stomped his foot in a pout. "This could get us into serious trouble-"
"Go then." You replied, never removing your eyes off the target.
"We are are not leaving you." Gray shook his head.
"Never stopped you before." You carelessly responded, Shiro and Gray cringed at your harsh words.
"How many times do we have to explain ourselves for that!?" Gray whined as Shiro groaned rubbing his stiff neck.
"Why are we standing in the middle of a forest, creeping in on some party?"
"Wedding." You corrected.
"A wedding?" Gray blinked, furrowing his brows peeking through the thick black and white leaf's. "Why the hell are we risking our necks to creep on some wedding-!?"
"My father's wedding." You clarified further.
"You-Your-ma-huh!?" Gray babbled.
"Your father as in the one who sold you?" Shiro's nerves eased seeing your head lightly shake. Slowly you pulled your hand upward, pointing out a skeleton of a man wearing a nice tux.
"He was my father."
"I-Wha-I have so many questions." Gray turned to you. The past four years, while being trapped under Shooter's thumb, you never once spoke of what you did with the little freedom you inherited. Hell, for the past four years you barely even spoke to Gray or Shiro.
"When you two left-" You began.
"How many times do we have to tell you-!?" Gray groaned, guilt still eating him alive for how he turned his back on you when the first sliver of freedom was given.
"-I had nowhere to go." You ignored him, "No money to my name, no food, only the clothes on my back." You blankly gazed forward; eyes locked onto All Might's foreign face. "He didn't know me, but he trusted me anyway. He took me in and showed me how a father was supposed to love his daughter."
"(y/n) ..." Shiro breathed, tears pressed against his eyes as his heart warmed knowing you were able to find that type of affection in the little time you had.
"She-" You pointed out Mina, "-was my best friend."
"You made friends?" Gray grinned, his chest felt light with the knowledge you made a life for yourself, even with nothing to your name you made a home and a family of your own. Much like Gray and Shiro had done.
"And he-" The breath hitched itself in your lungs, his back was to you, and all you could see was black and white but his spiky familiar hair caught your eye.
"He what?" Shiro asked looking from Katsuki then to you. You quickly cleared your throat shaking your head clear.
"They were all paid to care about me."
"Wait what?" Gray blinked, turning to you.
"How do you-?"
"I overheard them talking about it." You replied.
"Then why the hell are we here!?" Shiro spat, glaring towards the party with half a mind to start a wildfire.
"Because..." You asked yourself that a hundred times while you snuck your way here, your team following you like a lost shadow. "...even though it was all fake, to me it real."
"(y/n)-"
"And I wanted to watch him get married." You breathed, tears filled your eyes as you stared at All Might, you felt a warm tear drip down your cheek, then another one as Inko hugged him with Midoriya smiling fondly at his new family. Rapidly you blinked pushing the unwanted tears back knowing this was a losing battle.
"Hey..." Shiro touched your shoulder, his voice soft like melted butter hearing the cracking in your voice. "...I-" Before he could speak, the collars around each of your necks lightly beeped before going off electrocuting you.
"Shiro?"
"Huh?" Shiro flipped around, the car had stopped, and everyone was already out of the car.
"I asked if you were coming?" Gray repeated, standing beside Mina.
"Yeah." He cleared his throat quickly nodding as he slid off the seat.
