Chapter 6 - Saved from Void

Rushing from taking a walk outside and back in, Rossi's heart began pumping a lot faster while witnessing the guards on full alert and marching after each other in their full combat metallic armor.

War is never good no matter what the instances are. Following Rossi behind are several maids also curious as to what might have happened in the palace to have the guards on heightened alert.

"That's it," Grabbing her dress by the side that was once dragging on the floor, Rossi walked at a quicker pace and took wide strides on the way to Irene's bedroom.

Knowing how hard-headed she is, there is a great possibility that she might have caused a problem that could be the reason why the mighty guards are like preparing for war. However, deep inside Rossi's heart, she hopes Irene is safe.

In no time, she arrived at Irene's room, panting heavily. There's this lump forming in her throat every moment she hears the sounds of the guard's metallic armor clashing with the beat of their eager marching on the way outside and to every point of entry in the palace.

Rossi could no longer wait for the servants to open the giant doors of Irene's room which is why she used her powers to open it instantly with just a swift motion of her hand which would have taken the servants more than a minute.

Unlike royals like her having strong powers, servants possess more subtle kinds of gifts like loyalty, empathy, love, and patience.

Her heart dropped and her knees weakened after arriving at an empty room. There is not a trace of Irene around and even the wardrobe was left open. Rossi is breathing heavily as she massaged her throbbing head, at times like this, she could not think straight. Amiel should know about this or else Irene would surely be in a perilous situation.

"Your Highness!" A panting servant on her knees arrived by the doorstep which made Rossi come in her direction, alarmed by her frightened tone of voice. The servant is still catching her breath, "An intruder was caught by Void, the guard chief captain!"

Rossi's eyes grew wide and her jaw drops parallel to the walls. She covered her mouth and took shivering steps away from the servants. Composing herself, Rossi took a deep breath and closed her eyes to communicate wherever Amiel is. Irene needs him right now more than ever or else the infamously vicious and merciless Void will end up taking her life away.

In her mind, Rossi sends a telepathic message to Amiel. "The mortal is in extreme danger in Void's hands," She opened her eyes abruptly after experiencing a splitting pain in her head, making her lose balance.

This phenomenon happens because she has not mastered her gift of telepathy yet and ended up straining herself by sending Amiel a message for the first time.

The sea of palace guards forming in the vicinity of the great hall parted in the middle when the venerable Amiel walked dominantly carrying the supposed unconscious 'intruder' in his arms.

Usually, he had the kind of look on his face which sends distinct fear to someone who stares directly into his eyes. But today was an entirely significant day for his expression became darker and colder than ever.

He gritted his jaw so hard and pierced anyone who would get in his way with his remorseless visage. Amiel's towering height screamed dominance among the gallant and unflinching army.

Amiel stopped in the middle of the great hall and growled like a domineering lion, "Dare nobody touch my woman!" He brushed each and every one of the guards with his dark and sinister gaze, "Nobody dare or else I will kill you all." Everybody knew too well that Amiel's words were not empty.

Among all the citizens of Rosemoor, they are certain that Amiel is very much capable of ending them all at once with his nasty temper. All the guards could do as a response was bow their heads down as a sign of submitting to his greater authority.

"So this mortal is your woman now? How would you explain this to Mom and Dad?" Rossi crossed her arms while staring blankly at Irene lying peacefully on the bed. No questions are needed, being tortured in Void's hands in direct contact with death.

He pities no one and has the darkest gift of making someone suffer without dying immediately. She sighed, "Poor Irene, she is a good mortal." And then sat down on the chair near her bed.

"I know that reason was poorly executed. We will send her back to her world the day after tomorrow," Amiel coldly replied while his hands are in his pocket facing the windows outside.

For the past few days, he traveled around Rosemoor to hunt for an intellectual who is knowledgeable and powerful enough in dealing with a human.

Rossi bit the nail of her left thumb and felt jumpy, "Amiel, Void already knows about Irene's existence. No matter how respected you are, we all know Void will not just sit in the corner and do nothing. He goes mad over something that he thinks is a threat. Void takes his job too seriously," Rossi took quick steps outside the room while Amiel followed her behind.

"Don't worry, I will take care of that," Amiel assures Rossi.

The rest of the day was allocated for Irene to take a rest and regain her strength. Void is one of the feared guards of Rosemoor for he shows no remorse as long as he thinks he is right. No one can stop him to follow his gut feeling and it is only about a time when he makes his next step.

The next day, Irene woke up by herself and stared at the creatively painted ceiling in the room she is currently staying in. It has never crossed her mind that she will be practically stuck in a supernatural world after getting abducted and being downright tortured. She has never felt as helpless as right now. Irene sat on the edge of the bed and shoved the blanket away.
