The city hall
[3rd POV]
Gunshots resounded at the city hall.
" Hurry up. Call the f*cking backup!"
" Commander, there's no signal!"
" Impossible—"
Leaf, the commander of the city guard, snatched the radio from the soldier. His trembling hand pressed frantically over the numbers. But no matter what he did, all he heard was a hiss, which meant only one thing, the bases had fallen. Leaf wanted to throw the radio on the ground and run away, but he couldn't lose the image of a capable, serious commander in the eyes of the soldiers.
" Send three teams to support the southern wing, one team to follow me to open a blood path in the northwest area, we will try to contact the support ourselves."
The chants that came from the soldiers and their trusting eyes made Leaf feel a little guilty. He didn't care about calling for help, he just wanted to get out of here quickly before it was too late.
Leaf and 20 members of the guard, all of them specially equipped with guns and bulletproof vests, they fired at anything that stood in their way, be it enemy soldiers or their own. However, before Leaf could let out his sigh of relief. Blocking the road out of the city center was a young man. In his hands were two short swords. Leaf immediately recognized this man, according to intelligence reports that he was the leader of the rebels. Commander Leaf may be a coward but he was no fool, standing in front of him was a Teigu wielder. There's no way Leaf's group of 20 soldiers could stop someone like that. Leaf immediately ordered everyone to stop firing.
" Y-You're Jun? T-The person representing the outsider area? Please, I have a suggestion— "
Before Leaf could finish, the killing intent emanated from Jun so fiercely that his words were stuck in his throat. Jun chuckled at this scene. People like Leaf are untrustworthy. The only thing he needed from this guy was City Lord's position but someone who relied on his tongue to advance would surely use tricks to deceive him.
' I'd better just kill him here and quickly occupy this place.'
Looking at Jun's eyes, Leaf understood that his struggle was futile, he immediately turned around and ran away. His actions made the surrounding soldiers shocked, and because of Jun's pressure, they couldn't help but panic. They know how to do anything but shot at Jun.
Even a man like Jun couldn't just dodge every bullet from machine guns from this distance. Except for fatal parts like the head, and the heart, Jun didn't care when a few bullets pierced his stomach, arms, or legs. Jun's blade cut the vocal cords of 3 soldiers before they could scream. Drops of blood scattered in the air were sucked back by Jun's blade then bullet casings clattered on the ground as Jun's wound healed at an abnormal speed. The tip of his sword pierced the heart of the largest of the soldiers despite the fact that he was wearing bulletproof armor. Jun used his corpse as cannon fodder and continued to slaughter the rest. When he killed 7, the rest fled in many directions. Jun had no intention of chasing them, he ordered the team to quickly search the city hall.
After an hour of fighting, the rebels completely occupied Onobu's city hall. Cheers of joy rang out from everywhere except for one person, Jun. He didn't feel comfortable with this victory at all. City lord wasn't here, his troops took over the radio station and city hall too easily. What worried him the most was that aside from his troops, there was no news from the other three. The sound of gunfire once again answered Jun's concern.
Through the 4th floor window of the town hall he could see the bright flames from below, tens of thousands of fully equipped city guards completely encircling Jun's team and the entire city hall. Jun gritted his teeth, he jumped down from the 4th floor. As fast as a bullet he wriggled past his teammates who were falling one after another in the rain of bullets. Before he could reach the enemy gunmen group. Jun was stopped by large figures. The giant soldiers, each of them must be more than 2m tall. Jun swings his sword at someone's head but the guy uses his bare hand to block Jun's sword and counterattack with a great hammer. His strike left a large crack in the ground. Jun didn't think he could survive the hit just now. These guys were not usual at all and there were hundreds of them. They weren't even close enough to be able to rival Jun's yet, but he had a hard time defeating only one of them. Another problem was that Akaikiba didn't seem to be able to absorb the enemy's blood at all, which only had 2 possibilities, either the thing in their bodies wasn't considered blood or they were contaminated with a deadly toxin.
Jun was pushed back by the giants little by little while bullets continued to pierce his body. If he continued to fight like this, he would die, he activated Akaikiba's ultimate skill. [Crimson Lord]
Blood gushed from his hand down to the blade, staining it with crimson color. Tendons and flesh emerged Akaikiba, from two short swords it now turned into two longswords. Jun was now pale, his muscular body has become skinny. Despite that, he could feel the power coursing through his body. 2 long swords instead of being heavy they became lighter than ever. With a swing of his sword, a crimson line of blood spreads almost 2m and cuts 2 mutant soldiers into four. They tried to keep the formation but unlike before, they couldn't stop Jun anymore. In an instant, 1/3 of Alan's mutants were wiped out by Jun. One tried to run away but his head was caught by a large palm.
" Such a dissapoiment. Looks like it's still a long time before we can catch up with Teigu's technology."
" Alan sama, my appology."
" No Doll, to force the ultimate of Akaikiba wieldier, that's already a progress."
The mutated soldier's head was crushed by Alan Gurrag, who slowly walked up to Jun with a scornful smile, he ordered the soldiers to back off.
" You became such a disappointment boy. To think you chose the life of a thug. Julius."
Jun's face contorted in anger, and he rushed to Alan at breakneck speed. The two sides' weapons collided with each other creating a shrill sound, even Alan had to be pushed back a few steps before Jun's abnormal strength.
" Don't ever say that disgusting name."
Jun's swords are like a storm they create countless rending blood slashes in a wide arc. Alan spun his giant mace to block Jun's furious attacks but he couldn't block them all, his whole body was covered in cuts. He was bleeding profusely but the smile never left Alan's lips.
[Clank!]
Jun's sword was firmly stuck to the mace, and something shot towards his face at a tremendous speed. Flying a distance, he scrambled to his feet and spat his bloody broken teeth on the ground he slowly stand up, though his legs were trembling a smile escaped his mouth. Jun took out the things in his fist, it was Alan's index and middle fingers, he cut them while taking Alan's full punch. Jun munched two fingers in his mouth.
Alan looked down at his two amputated fingers, his face was expressionless.
" I don't know how long it's been since I shed my blood, good, very good."
"You won't be just bleed you bastard, I'll hang your head before your cult, watch them cry in pain as the one they worship dismantled like cattle."
Alan shook his head silently, he stomp his giant mace to the ground, Jun immediately stuck his sword into the ground so he wouldn't be sucked towards Alan, the force of gravity still sending him toppling. Just then a huge shadow rushed over and a huge iron dumbbell fell on his head. The giant mace weighed 2 quintals, In Alan's hand this attack easily crushes anything, even the dangerous beasts with the hardest armor will become piles of meat, but Jun's strength has surpassed anyone in this country. He swung his sword at Alan. The fragile swords instead of being crushed by the giant steel mace, they cut through it. However, before Jun could destroy Alan's weapon and take his head, an electric current ran through his body.
"!"
Smoke rose from Jun's hair as the electricity from Alan's iron mace reached his head, and his whole body scorched. If it weren't for the Teigu, his brain would have been toasted. Right now he couldn't move even a single finger. Alan's large hand grabbed Jun's head, his stunted body was lifted into the air.
" Look Julius, isn't it beautiful. This is the result of what you've done."
In front of Jun's eyes were the corpses of thousands of people, including those who were comrades standing by his side. Alan's men were gathering their bodies in heaps, slathering them with oil and burning them, the smell of burnt flesh in the air mixed with groans and screams from those who were still living. Tears rolled down Jun's cheeks, he clenched his teeth in helplessness as all hope was gone.
" You have my thanks, Julius. Thanks to you, the whole Onobu military is in my hand, not only did you help me to purge your kind but also help me to get rid of the biggest thorn in my eyes. From now Onobu is truly mine and mine alone."
Using all his strength, Jun swung his sword at Alan's neck but both of his hands were broken instantly. Alan put his foot on Jun's neck making him unable to breathe.
" Good bye Julius."
The force from Alan's leg grew heavier and heavier as it was about to break the bones of his neck. With the sound of someone screaming, a sword stabbed into Alan's back but was stopped by his thick muscles, it couldn't penetrate his internal organs. Quan ducked her head to avoid the giant mace, and stabbed the sword into Alan's neck, knocking him to his knees. She hugged Jun and carried him on her shoulder.
" …Qu..an"
" Sob, I-It's okay Jun, sorry I'm late."
A hazy scene appeared in front of Jun, he clung to his fragile consciousness. Quan's army only had a few people left, they are trying to buy time for Jun to escape. He could feel the strong smell of sweat on his childhood friend and the sound of her rough breathing. Quan was exhausted from breaking the siege, and now she had to carry Jun as she ran, a bullet grazed her leg leaving her limp.
"… Put… me… down and run…"
" No, no don't say that."
" Please I beg you."
Quan didn't care what Jun said, she tried to wriggle out of the encirclement. With a sharp sound of something huge splitting the air, Quan threw Jun into the sky while her body transformed into a <. Alan slowly walked over, he picked up his favorite great mace and walked over to Quan who was now half alive, her eyes were not looking at Alan, the one who was about to end her life, but glued to Jun. Her face broke into a smile and her mouth moved as if she was trying to say something.
" It seems that I was a little worn out after not be in a dangerous situation for so long. That old guy gonna scold me for this."
Alan scratched his head, he pulled the sword from his neck, blood gushed from the wound but he used his muscles to stop it.
" Do you insects have any other surprise for me??"
He raised the battle mace. When he was about to end Quan's life. Something held his feet, it was Jun.
"…P-Please… do..n't… fat…"
"…"
Alan sighed, he slowly walked away from Quan and Jun. Suddenly he turned his eyes onto one of the rooftops nearly 90m away. In the darkness, Alan's face appeared in Haruki's sniper scope and he pulled the trigger. The bullet from the sniper rifle, which flew 3 times faster than the speed of sound was blocked by a sword, a beautiful young white-haired girl with an expressionless face. She wore armor with an engine on its back and legs, constantly emitting sparks. This girl's speed was so fast that Haruki could barely keep up with her movements only though reflexively. He dodged the slashes but received a kick in the stomach, Haruki fell to the ground and turned the head of a corpse into creamy pumpkin soup, Haruki quickly rolled into a nearby server before the robotic girl landed on his side. She stood motionless, staring at the foul sewer for a moment, and then left.
And so the uprising in Onobu came to an end.
———————————————————————————————————————————
1 Hour earlier during the war. When the fierce battle took place between the two factions, a small shadow wriggled through the alleys to the west of the city.
" Damned! Please stop moving around."
Alex's anesthetic would wear off in about half an hour, in the worst case he may have to overdose. He had to hurry back before the insurgents blew up the exit. Alex wanted to give up, even though he knew the direction he had to go, but Onobu's twisty routing system made his mind a mess. He heard in the houses he passed, the cries, the prayers, the fear, the curses of those who lost their families in this war.
' Yes. It's too late to turn around.'
After all he did, he wouldn't let it go to waste. Too many people died, and even if he didn't care much about this city, it didn't mean he had become an emotionless person. For the deaths of thousands of people including the elderly, women, and children, he will partly bear the responsibility for them, by surviving this cruel world.
