There was once a king, who ruled a land, whose people he cared deeply for. He was an immortal king, immortal and powerful, the only one with magical powers. His nation was large, deeply respected and feared because of his abilities, but also for his kind and generous personality. One day, a neighboring nation created an alliance to dethrone the king, to remove the magic from the land and take over his land. After gathering enough power they waged war, and though the king was kind many feared his powers and revolted against him. Filled with grief, the king went into exile instead of fighting his beloved nation. But over time grief turned into rage against his people who he had loved and protected, yet they turned their backs on him out of fear and hatred. He decided to return to his people, and when they saw him they immediately attacked him. He was at first unwilling to attack and was badly injured before finally losing his patience and fighting back, killing many of his people. He not only killed his people, he killed all others who dared conspire against him. But as he was walking through the remains of the battle, he was struck with grief thinking of the people he had loved and knowing that he had become what they feared he would be. He was overcome with grief and took his sword infused with his own magic, and impaled himself. As he was on the verge of death, an unknown source, a god who watched over the land came up and asked the king why he was so saddened over the people who betrayed him , and why he sought redemption. "Why must you suffer and pay for the pain they caused you". The king then replied : they had reason, they were scared, and despite my efforts to love them and show that I would protect them, I destroyed everything , they were my people and I failed them, it is not their fault". The god god contemplated the kings words for a second. After carefully thinking, the god said that he would make a world of magic, where all life born from here on out would not be without magical powers. But it would come with a cost. The cost would be a sacrifice of life with immense magic, and if this sacrifice was not made, then the land would revert to the magicless land it once was. The king accepted, knowing that this would start with his life, but would ensure that the future would be bright and prosperous, infused with strong life.
