The first thing Eros noticed was unimaginable heat. His skin felt like it was about to get sunburned at any moment. Except, there was no sun. A thick carpet of dark rumbling clouds stretched from horizon to horizon. Occasionally they would discharge, reaching for the raised plains but not quite touching them. As far as the angel could see, there was nothing but stone desert. Dead trees rose into the sky like a warning sign. In the distance, Eros could hear hellspawn dogs cry.
The second thing he felt was excruciating pain. Not only his wounds began to throb, but his entire body hurt. He sank down to his knees, panting. The coarse sand was so hot, he could feel it through his jeans.
And, to top it all off, the misery of hellspawn creatures seeped into his mind. Even if he didn't spot any living thing within the vicinity, their sentiments lingered in the air.
