In 1453, Ancanta wandered through a thick layer of snow, now she has become a young girl with an extremely beautiful face. Her crimson lips and long black hair curled into small curls, her cheeks were always rosy when the weather started to get colder. Ancanta looked beautiful at the age of fifteen, as beautiful as a muse of Rome. She looked up at the falling snowflakes with black eyes, Ancanta seemed a little sad.
When she and Uncle Hector were strolling in the deep snow three years ago, she happened upon an old woman preparing a cake. The scent drew a youngster like her at the time, so Ancanta immediately hurried to the old woman who was preparing bread and was told the story of the elves, the species known as servants of the gods. Ancanta initially thought she was listening to a fairy tale, but she couldn't believe it when she witnessed her uncle Hector holding a massive sword to slaughter a giant beast and save a kid a few days later.
Ancanta had no idea what the child's name was; all she knew was that he lived with his aunt. The aunt is nothing more than a monster disguised as a person; she hits the youngster every morning when he wakes up, and she is constantly enraged when he spills a sugar cube on the ground. Ancanta observed the tears running down the boy's cheeks, which she felt extremely sad for, and she was terrified to look at the towering lady who was torturing a kid, whose back was imprinted with a tall monster.
"You know, Ancanta, there are a lot of creatures in this planet. The most terrifying monsters would be imprisoned in the darkest pit known as Tatarus, where Hades must also fear ", Hector explained. "However, there is still a type of monster in this planet since humans were born. It is established by greedy, petty human beings, or it may even arise from defending people we love."
"It's terrifying," Ancanta whispered gently as she grasped Hector's arm and quickly dragged her body into his body, making him feel very ticklish. "If the child doesn't develop into a monster, that's good. I frequently think monsters being manufactured rather than born."
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt her body become incredibly chilly, as if she had just lost something really vital. She immediately noticed Uncle Hector inside, swinging a green sword and slamming the woman's body hard. The monster's shadow immediately emerged from the wicked woman's body, creeping into every corner of the home and clinging to the boy's body, who was kneeling on the ground in horror. Despite her fear, Ancanta went inside to hug the terrified kid. Uncle Hector's strikes were evaded by the shadow monster, and Uncle Hector was also lightning quick, striking the remaining bits of the shadow, causing it to scream in pain.
"Damned goblin, what have I done to make you obstruct my path?God's servant, who can only worship at the feet of the gods, come here to intervene in my business," the shadow hissed fiercely, slowly speaking harsh words. "Perhaps if we bargain together, things would be better, right?"
"I don't like to deal with demons," Uncle Hector replied confidently, smiling at Ancanta. "I don't like becoming involved in human matters, but you guys, you monsters are different. The birth of creatures like you is what has caused human society to devolve into chaos. It is my obligation as an elf to maintain the balance between these two realms."
When the monster shadow realized it couldn't negotiate any longer, it circled the dark locations and fled. It abruptly came to a halt and proceeded to fly fast towards the youngster being shielded by Ancanta. A great halo of light was emitted, keeping the darkness from entering Ancanta's body. An explosion was heard, and the shadow was flung into the boy's body. He slowly rose up in the boy's shape, his countenance terrible, and he said, "This kid has been drinking goblin's blood. She is the bride of the elf!"
Uncle Hector's eyes were filled with fear, and he dropped his sword as if he had just heard something very vital. In an instant, the tiny child with the evil shadow's soul seized Ancanta's neck and hoisted her up. That tiny kid was much younger than Ancanta; with his strength, he couldn't easily raise Ancanta, but because there was a terrible monster in the boy's body, it rapidly grasped her neck and smiled with a horrible grin.
"Wouldn't the elf's bride terminate her everlasting life by handing the elf a white lily?" the kid exclaimed hoarsely, as if he knew he had the upper hand, "Oh dying goblin who serves gods, if I murder this girl here, would you have to wait for more than a thousand years, another ten thousand years? Does this girl mean a lot to you?"
Ancanta's cheeks had changed from pink to purple at this point, and she turned her head to look at Uncle Hector, asking for assistance, but at the same moment, she noticed her uncle Hector simply bent his head solemnly. Shall he not save her, and she will perish as a result? She reflected to herself. Before she could ponder too long, a blue flame erupted from Uncle Hector's side, enveloping his entire body; the heat of the fire was so intense that Ancanta could feel even though she was far away from that. The shadow in the boy's shape also sensed a major threat from the goblin, he quickly let go of his hand to let Ancanta breathe, he stammered a few weak words, "Goblin, we can negotiate, right? We are all servants to the gods, why should we fight like that?"
"I don't like negotiating with the devil," roared Hector as sparks rushed directly at the boy's body, but what Ancanta saw was an image of a shadow shooting out of the boy's body. The youngster gazed about weakly before collapsing and passing out. Ancanta escaped the devil's grasp as well, and she sat down in fear and wonder at Uncle Hector's amazing power. The small girl noticed that the blue fire was slowly searing the demonic shadow, causing it to scream in agony and ultimately die in the wood chips of the home.
At this point, Uncle Hector ran up to Ancanta, he put his hand on her panicked body and said softly, "It's okay, aren't you here? If anyone bullies my Ancanta, I will not forgive that person."
"Uncle Hector, you appear to be frightening."
After saying that, Ancanta fell asleep in Hector's lap. It is true that when youngsters face something excessively frightening, they will soon fall asleep in order to forget their anxiety. Hector moved cautiously, as though he was frightened Ancanta might wake up because of him. Following that day, Hector contacted Rome's child protection department to report the mistreatment of that unfortunate youngster, and the nasty aunt who had mistreated the child for many years was imprisoned. According to the inquiry, the child's parents died in a traffic accident in France, so the infant was reared by his aunt, but only after eating a huge sum of insurance money from his parents' death. This aunt not only mistreated her nephew, but also abused him, making him fearful. When the child protection center arrived to pick up the youngster to take him to the monastery, it found him crouched in the corner of the room, terrified of the nasty aunt's beatings. The youngster was then reared in a monastery and given the name Henry Layer.
Telling about Ancanta's story, she kept remembering three years earlier, the day she learned her uncle Hector was a goblin, as the elderly woman selling cakes had informed her. Ancanta began keeping a diary from that day on, a line of diary of her sentiments when she had to live them with an elf, a non-human entity.
"Month...Day...Year
Today is a lovely day; the temperature is mild, yet the air is crisp. I went for a walk in the monastery while clutching an elf book. Perhaps it was because I discovered Uncle Hector was an elf that I began to have conflicted emotions in my heart. After that, every time I saw him, I felt as if the picture around him was ringed by blue flames, and that fire burnt away the ghostly shadow that hurt the youngster, which worried me. Uncle makes me scared, very scared.
I've read the bible and heard from nuns that elves aren't inherently bad, but every time I look at him, I feel strange inside. Ancanta, perhaps you've gone insane, haven't you? Uncle Hector has taken care of you since you were a baby; how can you be a horrible person? I was hoping to extend my time at the monastery so I wouldn't have to see him every day. Will he be able to read my mind? Would he be unhappy if he found out I was also panicking?"
Every day, lines of diary were written to show Ancanta's perplexity. The notepad was steadily filling up with the words she scribbled in it. Each page of the journal reveals her worry and scary for the uncle she so adores.
"Humans are like that; they are always worried about seemingly insignificant things yet don't know how to appreciate what they have."
Ancanta was lost in thoughts when he noticed the proprietor of the bookstore washing his old books. Ancanta immediately realized that she was standing in the "Bonjour" second-hand bookshop, which she had discovered while going down the street.
"That's a phrase from a book by the great Ancio writer, young girl, do you know who that writer is?" the bookshop owner asked Ancanta, making her to drop her journal on the floor. Ancanta swiftly shook her head to demonstrate that she was unfamiliar with the famous writer cited by the bookshop owner.
"Humans are continually on the lookout for new experiences. They frequently forget what is already theirs.", the bookshop owner moaned, as if he cared if Ancanta heard what he said or not. "Things evolve gradually, and people prefer to forget the past. They were still protected by the gods, but they no longer worshipped or believed in them. What they believe in is what is known as science. Humans are like that; they will constantly forget who they are; only the immortals will remember to save previous memories in their minds."
Ancanta's heart clenched as she remembered the times she spent with Uncle Hector, and how he loved and spoiled her. But now, her head was only filled with frightening pictures left by Uncle Hector; that horrible image had accompanied her for the previous three years, and it was because of this that she was terrified, and no one dared to approach his uncle. She doesn't recall how clear she was as a youngster, but Hector was at her side and concerned about her from the moment she became aware of everything around her. Uncle Hector had never injured her, and he had devoted his entire affection to her.
Ancanta is ashamed of herself; how could I have done this to my uncle? Ancanta longed to go home right now, where her uncle Hector was always waiting for her to come, where she could hug him and tell him how much she loved him. Ancanta dashed home after swiftly saying farewell to the bookshop owner. On the walk back, her movements got increasingly hurried, and she clutched the notebook in her hand tightly, vowing to herself that she would never lose Uncle Hector again. Ancanta inadvertently collided with a man strolling on the road while running too quickly, a man with a tall body like Uncle Hector, a man wearing a large overcoat with a large hat covering his body and his face.
"Sorry, I didn't notice, I was in a rush," Ancanta apologized, and hastily exited.
For a brief while, the guy turned around, his face hidden behind his wide-brimmed hat, and smiled sinisterly at Ancanta, "This scent...Finally, Jasmine, I also discovered your daughter."
