Chapter 50 - At the dinner.

Adah dressed up elegantly with quite a dress and make-up that made her beauty stand out. She finished and came out of the room before she heard a knock on the door. She opened the door and Lily came in with a big smile on her face. She admired Adah for a while and looked up as Munah came out. Adah looked at him and said nothing knowing that Munah is quite selective in his dressing. He shook Lily's offered hand and commented on how beautiful Adah looked. They all went out at once as they heard the arrival of the driver specially sent by Mr. Denson. They came to the park. Lily sat with the driver at the front of the car while Munah and Adah sat at the back of the car. Lily did this on purpose because she knows and thoroughly understands her friend. The driver made his way out of the Reitz and entered the wide smooth road. The journey is not quite far as in no time they got to the venue which was the Denson's Mansion. Munah shook his head in wonder at the sight of the huge mansion, Within him, he concluded that the Denson's family may not even know how much they are worth or maybe they are hiding their worth from the public and trying to stay humble. He most times gets confused whenever Adah arrogantly displays wealth by lavishing money on things he deemed unnecessary. However, he has come to realize that it is the way of the rich and this he has now come to understand. For Adah to purchase the property in Norchestery from her pocket shows how financially capable her business alone has grown but credit must be given to her manager for a job well done. He would have liked to opt for detectable but know g the lady of his life, she will oppose the idea except when they finally tie the knot.

After the greetings and exchange of pleasantries, they did not waste much time before Mr. Denson ushered them to the table. The dinner table was beautifully decorated with exotic wine and food. Lady Denson blessed the table and they fell to it at once. They first ate in silence before Lady Denson struck up a conversation with Lily.

"How's your new environment, Lily?" She asked looking at her with a smile.

"It's fine but can be very hot most times," she replied with a smile as she chewed softly.

"There will be no worries about the heat. You will soon get used to the system and preferences. What about work?" She asked itching to hear more from Lily.

"It's fine, we all know that working with the empire can be very demanding, and with our new chief, it's much more demanding," Lily said as she drank from her glass.

"And you...you look new and quite a different brand from the rest," Lady Denison said referring to Munah who is slowly eating from his plate. He looked up with a smile while Mr. Denson looked up for the first time.

"Yes of course. I was hired by the personnel department to work under the new chief. I run her secretariat and I am her assistant." Munah answered calmly still wearing his smile. Lady Denson smiled and looked at her daughter who incidentally looked at her mother with their eyes meeting briefly and Lady Denson removing hers quickly.

"I must commend your German. It's quite excellent for the ears. Do you speak any other languages too apart from English and German?" Lady Denson asked warming up to Munah.

"I speak six local languages and three international ones..." Munah said

"Being..." Lady Denson countered

"Spanish, French and German..." Munah said and noticed that it caught her off guard. She smiled and turned their conversation to French which Munah obliged and after about five minutes, both of them again discussed in English. The lady within her was impressed by his dexterity and keeping understanding of the language.

"I want to ask for a favor from you Mr. Munah. Despite my daughter telling me how helpful you have been in your work at the Empire, I think I will be needing you more down here please what do you say?" Adah looked up sharply with wide eyes at her father showing her resentfulness.

"Daddy! I think we have discussed this?" She said softly with anger in her voice as she felt betrayed.

"Yes, my daughter but you gave a shallow reason. You should know that this recent acquisition is huge and all hands must be on deck. I think he will be useful to me over here."

Mr. Denson said looking at his daughter interestingly with admiration.

"No daddy I am not buying it. His place is at the headquarters back home. You have all the resources in this world to get the best hands and brains. My office will need him more." Adah said raising her voice a little for the first time at her father who could not help but let out a soft laugh.

"I insist Adah and that may be final..." her father said as he drank from his glass of wine.

"Daddy and I insist also that he will be with me." Adah interpolated with her soft voice.

"I think I can help where and when needed sir but I will want to remain back home for there is a lot to be done and our chief needs every hand on deck," Munah said calmly while Lady Denson clapped her hands gently but loudly with a big smile on her face.

"I think he has said it all. He can work with us depending on what he is needed or called upon to do. Moreover, it is all in the best interest of the Empire and the family." Lady Denson said looking at both Adah and her father.

"Thank you, Lady Denson, for resolving this feud. I think Munah is right. I mean he is at the service of the Empire and this is the most important." Lily said while Adah looked at the table knowing that this is the first time she has refuted and contended with her father. She did not feel any regrets about her refusal for her happiness is all that matters. She heard her father as he called for everyone's attention.

"I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work in ensuring that we come out tops in the bid we went for. We all know that the company is one of the most expensive in the world and its specialty is diamonds and precious stones. Now we as Denson Empire can be reckoned with around the globe. I want to first appreciate my wife who sold the idea to me and my daughter who brought her team. I want to thank Munah and Lily for their efforts. Adah thank you so much for putting a smile on our faces especially bringing Munah who spoke and helped us to get what we desired. Every one of you will be compensated when you get back home. Since you all made this happen you will enjoy a lifetime bonus from the Empire and my daughter will get it effected from today." Mr. Denson said and sat down.

"Thank you again and may we continue to experience more success as the team that we are." Lady Denson concluded as the husband made a toast to which they all drank with a great amount of happiness.

After dinner, they discussed further with Lady Denson and Munah discussing in French. Mr. Denson later invited Munah to his side while Lady Denson took her daughter by the arm to a large window that is facing the little park outside.

"You are not getting any younger. You are now twenty-five so what's the delay?" Lady Denson asked looking into her daughter's eyes.

"Mummy please let us not start with this again..." Adah said with her mind racing and with Munah's words in her heart.

" I sense that something is going on but for now I cannot wrap my head around it. I see the gold on your finger, the glow in your eyes, and with the way you spoke and stood up to your father's proposal, I don't want to think otherwise my daughter." Lady Denson said holding her daughter tenderly. Adah relaxed, she knows her mother and her unprecedented ways of getting out facts. She said nothing but turned to look at her father as he discussed with Lily and Munah.

"Mummy I am focused right now and I desired to make you proud. I want to settle down too and give you and daddy lots of grandchildren that will inherit all these fortunes and wealth. However, I do not want to make the wrong choice. Bami was a wrong move and I have learned so mummy the right time is always the best." Adah said trying to convince her mother. Lady Denson smiled and hugged her daughter before they walked toward Mr. Denson.
