Mr. Okpabi's house was something grander than that of his son, as it should be. It was a one story mansion boasting of two sitting rooms and several bedrooms, all very well furnished as befitting a wealthy fellow. There was a sitting room upstairs and one downstairs. The second sitting room was upstairs was smaller and solely for the relaxation of the family. The mighty one downstairs was for receiving guests, of which the senior Okpabi had many.
Two days after Nenka had left Kenny's house, she sat with Mrs. Okpabi in the family sitting room, mending a drape from her room while the kind woman browsed through a magazine. Nenka chatted away while the woman half listened to her. The older woman loved the girl dearly and felt comfortable in her presence as she chatted on everything and anything. It was just that the chatting almost always got her into trouble when she ended up saying things she should not say.
