KENNY AND FRIDAY HAD NOT made it to the village until the following day. After dropping off AK and the twins, he'd told Friday that he was too tired and that they should begin their journey first thing in the morning. Kenny knew he was just postponing the inevitable. He had to face his father at some point. He had to discover what the man had in store for him this time.
Late afternoon found them in his father's new house in the village; the party was already in progress. It was as if his father was sure that he wouldn't dare fail him by not appearing as planned.
"Welcome home my son!" Mr. Okpabi greeted his son with a proud smile and patted him on the back.
His mother gave him a warm hug and his brother said a curt, "Welcome," and moved away.
