Kate had hoped against hope that Kenny would tell her about the anniversary. He didn't.
On the said evening, Kenny dressed up in a khaki colored, double breasted suit. The bulky shoulder pads, which were the trend, gave him a distinctively prestigious look. He was so handsome it brought a log to Kate's throat.
She had been tempted to ask him where he was going to all spruced up, but that wasn't the plan. Kate held her peace and docilely followed him to the door and locked it after him, as usual.
With the party at 9 p.m., Kenny had left an hour ahead of the time. Twenty minutes later, Kate was surveying her reflection in the mirror with awe.
After their snack the previous day, Nsisong had taken her to a boutique to get a dress, insisting that what she was doing was a wedding gift, to Kenny and to her as well. Kate had been speechless, and had found it easier to just go along with Nsisong.
