A grand dream.
Even though Kate faced a dire future, she still wished not to wake from this dream. In all her imaginations, she had not once, made up this level of grandness for herself. How could she, when she had no idea such magnificence existed in the world she lived in. There was no way she would have imagined that such a magnificent event could happen in Ikom, not to talk of her being in the center of everything.
The almost unserious nature of the traditional marriage rites, carried out in the Okpabis sitting room did not prepare her for the church wedding. Mr. Okpabi had insisted on keeping the traditional marriage on the lowest of keys, meaning family only. They almost didn't dress up for it. Kenny certainly didn't see the importance of it. He had said - "After all, it is just family," with a sneer on his words. Only his mother's tender prods had changed his mind.
