Ikom, December, 1976.
Kate had studied good days, great days and bad days and knew the difference down to a science. Understanding the difference in the atmosphere of the day determined her reaction to scenarios. Like, if it was going to be a good day, she usually got breakfast on time, which meant she got to school on time too.
If it was going to be a great day, the breakfast was much and left enough for her to take to school for lunch. Sometimes, a great day entailed her mother pinning a coin into her palm for her to get snacks at school. A great day was one where she did not get booed at in the school premises for always wearing faded uniform to school.
