Chapter 23 - I like you, Park Yujin

The sky was painted with a pastel color of blue and white as the sun cast its glow below, hitting the green pastures and blue gentle waves of the sea down the mountain. Just a few kilometers away from the harsh water was a tall building where, from the inside, one could easily see the wonderful view through the transparent walls and windows.

It was exactly what Chunhee was looking at behind the window. His eyes looked as if they were glued to the view outside, looking too stunned and mesmerized to even utter a word.

Mrs. Han's eyes expressed their delight as soon as she saw this. She glanced at her husband by her side and whispered with a warm smile, "Ah, look at our child. He truly fell in love with this place. Honey, how about we buy one unit in this building for Chunhee?"

"That sounds like a great idea, hon. We can make it a gift for Chunhee and Yujin's anniversary next year," Mr. Han proposed with a smile.

"Right? The kids are going to love it for sure!" Mrs. Han agreed and then suggested with an excited pair of eyes, "Should we buy it today?"

Mr. Han glanced at his son whose eyes were still on the scenery outside and couldn't help but let out a proud and satisfied smile. "I'll ask secretary Lee and see if he can arrange it quickly."

Chunhee, who was then listening to the whispers of his parents behind him, sighed.

There was nothing else to do or think about anyway. He didn't know how his parents could form the idea of buying a unit in this building out of the blue but who cares about that? He couldn't fight the Plot God right now. He couldn't even move on his own will and accord. Because if he did, everything – and everyone – would be in danger. According to the person who sent the warning, he had to proceed with the engagement with Yujin first. After that, he would tell Chunhee what Chunhee should do.

At this point, Chunhee was powerless as he learned his "little rebellion" had produced undesirable and clearly dangerous outcomes. Outcomes such as the thing that he did about that scholar that caused a small accident in his father and mother's company, thus, the reason for their flight delay. And that accident on the stairs when Yujin was about to ask Chunhee's parents to cancel their engagement.

Accidents, whether big or small, should never be considered light or nothing at all.

Soon, a man appeared and approached the Han family, assisting them to the venue of the party to be held later this evening. "Mrs. Han, Mr. Han, this way, please. The person in charge of Chunhee's attire has arrived. The clothes are so amazing, you're going to love them all!"

"I'm so excited to see them! Where's the cameraman? Tell him to capture this moment too, okay?" Mrs. Han excitedly prodded.

Chunhee had to bit back the sigh he was holding, trying his best as much as he could so as not to ruin or spoil his own engagement party that his parents seemed to be overly putting their effort and love to.

At the very least, he should follow what that note stated first. He would think about his next steps once he had secured this point that voice was talking about.

Hours later, Chunhee was standing on the podium as about fifty or so people surrounded the vicinity - of the hotel venue where he and Yujin's engagement party was currently being held.

The sun was no longer present as it was replaced by the moon, full and bright above, just about right at its intensity and shape to cover everything to what was about to unfold before it.

And just like what the caller said, there was a flight of stairs behind that glistered and blinded people's eyes as if they could slip and die right there by accident. That was exactly the accident that the mysterious caller was referring to, wasn't it?

Thinking about the possibility, Chunhee turned away and never looked back again. No matter what, he must absolutely not step on those stairs tonight.

Silently as he tried to revert his focus back on the event, Chunhee looked at his side. Standing next to him was none other than Park Yujin himself, flesh and bones. He was wearing the same attire as he did in their sixth life, with his hair handsomely gelled up in a decent and manly way.

Chunhee took in large and deep breaths before turning to look at the other person at the podium and listening to him speak.

The host, which was Chunhee's distant relative and a close friend of Yujin's parents, was a person named Uncle Ben. He was a friendly guy who always offered chicken popsicles when Chunhee and the rest were in grade school. Chunhee remembered he had been caught by this jolly person numerous times when he, Chunhee, was stalking Yujin during fifth grade. Uncle Ben would even laugh and tell Chunhee not to do it but of course, once Chunhee cried, it was game over and the spoiled Chunhee would repeat the process until people get tired of trying to stop him and his stupidity.

This kind man had personally witnessed how Chunhee obsessed over Yujin the past years but couldn't do anything, too, just like Chunhee. This was his role - to support the questionable Chunhee and Yujin pair and just silently pray on the side for this union to become a success.

Chunhee felt gloomy at the thought. He and Uncle Ben seemed to be on the same boat for now.

Soon, Uncle Ben began to introduce Chunhee and Yujn after an extremely long and grand speech.

"My dear family and friends, cheers to Yujin and Chunhee! Cheers to the happy future of this beautiful union!" The jolly man exclaimed with a broad smile.

Chunhee smiled back at Uncle Ben and his effort. He then glanced at his family on the front table, their smiles beaming as if reaching the sky above while holding their glasses up. Then he looked at Yujin's family at the next table, watching how their eyes gleamed in delight and pride while watching Chunhee and Yujin in front.

Chunhee's eyes went over to the middle row where his friends - Daehyun, Jinho, and Youngjae - were all seated with other close friends and classmates. There were also other people present from other prominent families and clans behind them.

Then, finally, Chunhee looked at the man beside him.

Yujin had the usual indifferent look on his face, his eyes barely even looking at Chunhee, as if they were anything but willing. But this time, Chunhee didn't mind it, not one bit.

Instead, he drowned himself in the fact that Yujin was devoid of such feelings - feelings that were good, warm, and incredibly wonderful. Such as love.

It was simply impossible for Yujin to fall in love with him wholeheartedly. Thus, it wasn't even great trouble to do it once.

Chunhee, like the crazily-in-love sixth person he was at this night, stepped forward as he, without letting any distance appear between him and Yujin, pulled Yujin's hand as he stood closer next to him.

Yujin frowned and asked in a low and harsh tone, "What do you think you're doing?"

But Chunhee stared at his eyes – those eyes of Yujin, of the same man, of the same lover in the past five lives he had that he had memorized by heart and soul.

Yujin looked back, his eyes going wide as he was left stunned and speechless at Chunhee's next words and movements.

"I like you, Park Yujin," Chunhee declared, loud and clear for everyone to hear before he finally held Yujin's cheeks and tip-toed to reach him.

And with a clear and natural as the sky as it had always been in the past, with the right angle he knew he and Yujin both liked, Chunhee closed his eyes as he, in front of the crowd, clear and bright as the moon shone that night, claimed Yujin's lips.
