Although he had five lives he had experienced, Chunhee knew the identities given to him were all different. Each Chunhee differ from one another, only the face and name remained. For example, during his first life as a scholar, Chunhee had a very intelligent and nature-loving personality. He was benevolent, always careful and respectful with his surroundings. During his second life as a priest, however, he was actually secretly hateful. Not only did the society kept him from loving, he also was assigned to serve the father and the people. Because of this, his personality was strict and a bit arrogant.
On his third life as a mercenary, he had a serious, tough, and brave character with an honest and kind heart. The next lives were all different as well. In this life, Chunhee's personality was a bit similar to his priest personality. Because he was raised in a well-off household, he was also made believed that he was higher than other people. Least to say, he was a bit arrogant and self-centered, resembling a character of a spoiled young master.
This body always desired to be pampered and was always seeking for attention. His face was beautiful and innocent but once the others would face away, he would feel wronged, secretly hating those who stole his spotlight. Honestly, this type of personality wasn't loveable at all.
But this was just what Chunhee needed.
The original 6th Chunhee didn't have the chance to freely show his true nature because he was afraid Yujin would hate him once he discovered his real self. He thought, if he showed how arrogant and what a big bully he was, Yujin wouldn't want to speak with him ever again. His heart and mind were always full of Yujin. So his decisions, actions, and motivations, were all affected by Yujin too. Because he was too afraid to lose face in front of his most beloved person, 6th Chunhee lived with a rich, cute, and kindhearted life, disposing all the bad sides away.
This kind of unconditional love, only to be tampered and mocked in return in the future, Chunhee couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh.
Love, my ass!
Chunhee fully understood the true nature of Han Chunhee and his resistance to show it openly. But then if hiding it away meant walking to the path to his own death, Chunhee could only think of taking the other road. So what if this body actually had a rotten personality? So what if he was actually a spoiled rich brat?
Slowly, the corners of his lips tugged up into a perfect wicked smile. His mind began to process, thinking of all the advantages this true nature actually held.
If Yujin saw how bad he was as a person, of course he wouldn't love him, he would despise him enough to stop the engagement. Because Chunhee had always shown a happy reaction whenever his parents talk about the engagement, he couldn't directly ask them to postpone it or else, it would really be OOC (out of character). He couldn't make big changes on his own, he could only make use of other characters to move and do the job.
If he showed Yujin how nasty his personality was, Yujin would hate him and not love him. And he would also be the one to ask to stop the engagement, letting Chunhee free and finally live the life he liked.
It would be like hitting two birds with one stone.
Today, a student scholar who came from a poor family would bump into Chunhee while walking, causing his drink to spill on Chunhee's uniform. In the original storyline, Chunhee wouldn't hesitate to help this student get up while Yujin was looking at him. This would be one of the many chances Yujin would consider Chunhee as his pair because of his benevolent acts.
However, the Chunhee right now didn't need that consideration. In contrary, he wanted the exact opposite to happen. He wanted Yujin to hate him. So the moment the poor scholar bumped into him, Chunhee didn't make any innocent expression.
"S-Sorry, I-I," the poor scholar stammered.
Daehyun, who was walking beside Chunhee all this time, sighed while trying to pull Chunhee away from the scene. Chunhee ignored him and just stared down at the student who kept apologizing to Chunhee.
"Isn't that the poor scholarship grantee from Class XX? He actually spilled his drink on Chunhee! Gosh!"
"Knowing Chunhee, he would definitely let this pass you know."
"Yes, he's too kind, of course he'll let it slide... He's always kind to everybody whether rich or poor..."
A few students glanced at them and began murmuring. They knew how rich the Han household was. Most of them view Chunhee as a cute innocent rich kid, but who knew if his hatred and disgust actually reside in the depths of his heart? Just look at the way he was staring at that poor scholar, why wasn't he doing anything? Shouldn't he help him now? Judging closely, the students remained silent and kept an eye on the drama unfolding before them.
Meanwhile, Chunhee could already guess what the other students were thinking inside their heads. But he didn't care about them, he just waited until he finally sensed the pair of eyes he needed. Sure enough that was Yujin who just arrived and was looking at him from a distance.
The poor student pulled out a handkerchief and promptly moved his arm as if to clean Chunhee's uniform when suddenly, Chunhee swatted his hands away. His face was full of irritation and disgust towards the poor student.
The surrounding students murmured at his sudden attitude. They didn't expect Chunhee to express such strong distaste like that. Not to mention, Yujin was just nearby. Was he out of his mind? Or maybe he didn't see Yujin at all?
"Chunhee, just leave it. He already apologized," Daehyun cautiously said in a low voice, confused as to where the sudden attitude of his friend came from.
Chunhee wasn't afraid to be judged, in the original body, the Chunhee there kept all his negativities away all for Yujin. The Chunhee now was just embracing it, choosing a different path. So this kind of action wouldn't be considered OOC (out of character) at all.
Chunhee didn't say anything and just started walking away, intentionally bumping the student which caused him to fall to the floor with spilled juice.
