Chapter 5
We are waiting for dawn to begin our journey. He gave me a dark green cloak and leggings to pair with it. He even gave me a combat boots. A tiny hair clip with a design of roses on it. I was in the middle of putting my green cloak in my body, when suddenly, I felt a strange presence in the room. I turned my head and I saw him. Furthermore, I felt relief of the idea of seeing him.
Ryuu glanced at me with a smile crept in his face. He was still holding the golden map using his right hand, while the golden necklace kept in his pocket of his garment. He also tied his hair and placed it on his shoulder.
"Stick with me. It's not just wolves or witches we'll see on the road." He gave me his arrow and bow, and he, himself put it behind me. I glanced last at the arrow and bow he had given me. That is sacred. Those arrows belong to the highest goddesses. He frowned at me when he noticed that I seemed anxious and unable to move. I tried to show him a smile so that he wouldn't bother me anymore.
After he strapped the arrow and bow in my back. One more glance he gave me before taking the lamp and going down to the first floor of the mansion. I took a deep breath and slowly followed him. I found him standing near the door, holding a lamp that was the source of light at that moment.
"What are you doing there? Are we waiting for someone else? Ryuu, the wind is cold. Close the door." I commanded him using my formal voice. He heaved a sigh, and without any thinking close the door. He looked at me and from behind him, he threw a bottle which I immediately caught.
With my confusing mind, I looked at the bottle and I almost threw it on the floor as soon as I touched it suddenly lit up. The former red color suddenly changed. It turned into tarnish; the forbidden blood of Alphas.
"W-Where did you get it? Did you steal it to the temple of pain?" I uttered those words, and looked directly into his eyes. "Why are you holding the bottle containing the blood of the Alphas killed by the witches?"
Tarnish blood is the sacred, forbidden blood of Alphas of the past. According to Prioz's story. An Alpha betrayed them and joined a witch. Unexpectedly, their illicit love bore fruit. According to prophecy. A woman, who does not accidentally drink this blood, will return to the pleasure of witches and wolves.
"Someone gives it to me. And, don't ever ask me again about that thing. For now, hide it first. Promise to me that no matter what happens. Don't ever let the thing break," he said, and crossed his arms before going to the dinner table.
I was left alone as I was dumbfounded by what he said. The wind whistled, that made my cloak fell down in my head. A shadow is what I saw outside. I almost stumbled over the speed of my reflexes to see that shadow. But—I only caught him outside.
Am I imagining that? Is that a shadow of the past?
"Fala?" Ryuu calls my attention, which is why I look back at him. I just shook my head and tried to dismiss in my mind the shadow that hit my eye.
"What is that?" I tried to sound like calm, but inside me was now trembling because of what I saw. It is a vision of witches that whenever a shadow passes in the middle of the night, only two are brought on the journey: guidance or warning.
"I've been calling you for ten times. You seem weird now."
Hearing those words from Ryuu. I took the lump in my throat in shifted my gaze. Once the blow is loud, that's why I use the cloak to cover my face, just don't be quick. Then, after a while, the wind was now calm, penetrating my soul. Wanted me to embrace.
"It's time to start our journey. But, before we go. Can you turn around without asking any questions?" Ryuu asked me, while smiling at me. Just like he said, I turned away from him.
Moments later, I felt his fingers traverse my neck, and slightly lifted my hair. I was still shocked, which caused my knee to weaken, and I didn't know what to do. She put on the gold, glittering necklace she had been holding earlier. When he put it on, I glanced at him. He pressed my shoulders, and whisper in my ear.
"Stick with me. This is not the forest, you'd been dreaming about. It's a nightmare of the goddess, and a dream of wolves."
Listening to his words, I hurriedly took the lantern. This will illuminate our journey. The moonlight kiss was vast and merciless to feel in those moments. The alluring beauty of the night sky, made me love the nighttime. In the darkness, where secrets hidden are revealed.
"Fala. I'm afraid, I don't know what to do. I'm sorry for taking advantage to you. Not only that, but I can't tell you what happened to me," he said, in the middle of our brisk walking. Not only that, but I only have one rose in my hand now, and I don't know my true power, yet. I'm a goddess, and every Goddess has a gift. A gift from the four high Mistress of Daciantha and Hierantha.
"It's okay. Even though you invade my privacy, and self-time. I can still help you… I can still help you find the antidote and bring you into your mate," I said to him, without any hesitation. But, the smile that I hoped I could see in him, was an ache or pain that passed through his eyes.
Every wolf has a fixed mate, the only link between the two is when once it touches the hand. White smoke will attack into everyone's mind to communicate with their mind. It was called, mate link. The forbidden connection between two lovers.
"I'm mateless, Fala. The goddess of the moon told me, that it's my fate. And, I don't have to hope anymore. This is my destiny, I will accept it. But, the thing that I can't accept . . . is my death..."
