There was a delay of reaction when Alec heard it directly from his father. Even I, who was silently listening, went in full silence when it came out of his mouth.
All three of us didn't speak after that. As if heavens and hell had squeezed us altogether with that surprising truth.
"What..." That's all Alec was left to say.
