Chosen (Legacy Of Gods) - Chapter 5: " Twins"
Well, he was reluctant at first, but he knew he will have to do it "you can do this Reiko" he said in his head, but his expression was giving him away, he tried as hard as he could, but it was very obvious of how nervous he was, he tried as hard as he could to say something in respond to the twins introduction after the woman indicated them to do so, the slim one with the sniper rifle was Danna, and the lollypop lover and horror movie singer was Ashley, and the elderly woman's name was Yolan
I have Case of Duty 4 - he said, shouting and closing his eyes, without realizing what he just said, - ehh?, what?- he said in awe of what his mouth has just let out, the rest of members in the captain's offfice looked at him surprised and puzzled, what did he say all of a sudden?
His teammate was standing beside him looking him in exasperation, thinking " and this is our leader, he can't even say hi to girls", but the captain stood up, went to Reiko
This is the Gifted squad leader, his name is Reiko, he grew up under special circumstances so he does have difficulties talking to people for the first time
Uhh?, is he alright? - asked Ashley to excited Yolan - can i dissect him?, maybe he can be cure, right right- her face was too close to Yolan's face, her eyes wide open in excitement
No!!! - said Yolan in reply pushing her head away
Alright, Reiko take those two, show them around then take them with the king of scum to development department, - he said while opening his door as they headed to it - we still have more matters to discuss
the four youngsters left the room, led by Reiko, followed by Dash and the twins, the captain closed the door behind him and his expression sudenly changed to a more dark one, he walked pass Yolan who looked him with enthusiasm, as if watching a zoo animal pass through, the captain sat in his chair, put his elbows in the desk and hands on his face, as if praying, the woman now came closer to the office table, put a hand on the table, leane closer
The royal machine ehh? - he sighted
We got words that he is going to attack very soon, the capital is his first target, as to his motives, - she paused to allow the young captain digest the information and prepare for the rest of it, which didn't seem to be good news - we don't know for certain but will continue investigating
And we will need manpower, the reason behind his actions right now doesn't matter, we're talking about the former Vice admiral,- Crisp let his hand slip through his face, landing in the table, he sighted - prepare some of the men and start training we don't know the enemy's strength- he stood up, walked to the window crossed his arms on his back - does the captain knows already?
Yolan was not yet used to see the prominent captain call another man captain, but she was still adjusting to the dark true she learned not quite long when the emperor personally notified her of her new assigned position, and discovered that the empire had a secret combine unit with the Kigdom of Badin who's captain was the commander in chief himself, and was called captain by the members of that unit, of course they always go undercover even in their respective military forces, they kept their position, they were the backbone of both the kingdom and the empire. The combine unit was formed of the elite soldiers of both the empire and the kingdom, and they took care of all the black level criminals, silent assassination, when there was a scandal, it was either covered up or instigated by them, their network was far beyond of any nation's network in the entire world, yolan was in charge of the intel department, and she was to brief personally to the director of strategy, which was Crisp, she knew that the captain of the unit would be briefed after their meeting, but she had to answer anyway.
Not yet, we are to come with measures and brief to him - she took a pad from the table, checked the screen as if looking for her lost energy on it - we've just receive news of the discovery of the so call dragon's fiery's alliance with our suspect, they are transporting a cargo to the village of nul for a company that we suspect belongs to the "royal machine"
Crisp sighted, and turned arround, took his jacket - let's go to the captain office,- he said while going to the door, and his teammate took the pad, pressed some buttons in the screen of her pad following him behind- as of now this matter takes high priority, we must secure that cargo- he said leaving his office
Meanwhile in the middle of the tour the leader of the gifted squad was giving the two girls that joined recently, by recommendation of none other than the emperor, they passed the training ground, they passed the cafeteria, passed the armory and they were going towards the dorms TD
Hey hey, can i see the torture room? Can i? - said Ashley rushing in front of Reiko, looking like a child asking to see the amusement park
We don't have a torture room - answered a bit annoyed at the noisy girl, then looked at Dash, Dash was surprised to see Reiko get angry for once , but he did as if he too, was sharing his leader's experience, - hey didn't she know that?- but he then realised that Dash wasn't paying attention to them, instead he was pressing his pad as if his life depended on it, Reiko was drawn by his serious face -Dash, did something happened?,
Of course it was obvious, but Reiko was the truest carefree leader when it came to paperwork, he always entrusted the paperwork to Dash, thus he usually was the last to know when something was wrong, if not him, Aln, reasons, unknown.
We have a new mission, i just received the order - he answered showing the screen to him, and Reiko could see the order to report to the briefing room, issued to the gifted squad, he looked at the screen for a second eyes wide open, and he sighted, he was not feeling at all like going on a mission.
Even the three newbies too?,- asked Reiko a bit annoyed, Reiko hated working with new members for a major reason, it was mostly because he liked to give results above everything, and that meant, do the job on time, and neatly, but newbies wouldn't know how to do that and in most cases they have problems following orders, newbies were more of a liability for him
Are we going on a mission now?- said Danna at las, her voice tone had the least emotion in it, and her face remained expressionless, like a bored to dead girl
Can we kill people in this mission? - Ashley attacked again, come much closer to Reiko this time, which made Reiko rushed back and almost fell.
Reiko was always looking calmed, with a big smile in his face at almost every minute, he always gave orders that felt more like a request, which made rookies always decided to disobey them instead of follow, but he couldn't change his character, he was just trying to not overruled, but he was on t feeling like going on a outdoors tour neither.
With a big smile he tapped Ash's head, and pat it, then told her to go to the dorms, that he'll come pick her after the mission, after some minutes of struggled argument that sounded like a father and daughter more than leader recruit, he had to promise her to take her to the torture room ( if there was going to be one, then Reiko would've had to create it) for her to agree to stay behind, Reiko and Dash left for the briefing room, 12 Tds past the dorms, it was a room with an oval table with 24 chairs arround it, two big screens on each corner of the oval table, then other dozens of screens on the left wall and a lot personel operating their computers, in the room there was Aln and Mark ready with their uniforms and weapons, Reiko was happy to see them there, and happy to know he could count on his brother, there was Captain Crisp and Lieutenant Yolan from the empire, Reiko got in, saluted, they all stood facing the commander in chief's personal Teleportation door, then came a woman with a navy blue suit, took her pad and stood next to them, then next to her a man came in, he was tall, almost 2m long, brown skin color, no bears, he was wearing a military suit for marine heroes and had long ears, but what caught people's atention when they first see him was the scar in his left eye, a scar that went from his forehead to close to the tip of his nose, leaving a line in his eyes, as if the scar went through his left eye, having such an intimitading aura that would make anyobe kneel down in front of him if he wanted, everyone immediately stood up to greet the commander in chief as he entered, he looked at Reiko and Aln who smiled at him, but he was not about to smile at them, he was still angry at the bridge the both of them destroyed in a pursuit of a Red level criminal, hed talk to them the previous week, hed punish them grounding them for a week, and theyd ran away at the first crisis as an excuse.
The commander in chief took a controller, made a gesture and all the workers on the dozens of monitors in the room left, in the room was only the commander in chief, Captain Crisp, Lieutenant Yolan, Reiko, Aln, Dash and Mark, he faced the big screen in front of him and pressed a button, and an image of three men, with extravagant hair styles, they wore red singlers under leather jackets, the commander in chief went on
These three men are known as the hydra's head, they command the largest weapon traffic network in the continent called the dragon's fiery -
He paused to let the information sink on the youngsters of the gifted squad, pressed a button and this time arround was a face that Dash , Aln and Reiko recognised, they realised as they saw the picture on the big screen that this was a serious situation, because the face in the screen was none other than the third in command of the entire army of Badin, the commander in chief looked at them in an attempt to alleviate the atmosphere but that didn't help the leat bit, on the contrary, the air was so dense that i swear it was difficult to breath.
This man, as you all probably know, he disappeared without traces a week ago after rumors of him conspiring against the kingdom were put to investigation, we were looking for him and we found and confirmed he was indeed planing on attacking the kingdom,- he paused, looked at his underlings in the allied force, then at the gifted squad, he could fear their tension from where he was standing, he understood, it was at the very least, the first traitor mission they'd deal with, but he knew they had to one day, so he went on - we found evidence that indicates that the royal machine is working with hydra's head of the dragon's fiery, and they are transporting a cargo for him - he stoped and looked at Yolan who stepped forward
Your mission is to intercept the cargo and secure it - Yolan took over the position close to the monitor- you are to intercept it 100m before the village of nul - she pressed a button and a picture of a map appeared on the big screen, and some circules in a route and some other Xs and Os,- after they've confirmed that they are close to the village, that will lower the enemy's guard, you are to take all the members of the gifted squad and retrieve the cargo, which is in the last cart of the geo-train - she pressed and another image of a train cart with some thermological signs inside- you are permited to engage if you deem necessary, - she paused and let the information sink while Dash was taking notes in his pad like a maniac - after securing the cargo a black hawk will be sent to you location for retrieval, the leader of the operation will be Reiko as the leader of the gifted squad, your are to prepare for three hours, rendezvous with four black ops unit soldiers and leave, any question? - she explained briefly and started preparing a pile of documents, after all, the paperwork was more of her work.
No matter how many mission, Reiko always felt uneasy when put in charge of large operations, he was able to succed in his missions because he always had Aln, and after some struggles, he now had Dash with him, but he felt that this mission was too much to leave it in the hands of the other three newbies, and other four black ops members, even if they were veterans, a mission for gifteds is after all, a mission for gifteds, he felt that Aln and Dash were sufficient man enough to acomplish so he voiced it out in form of question " can i request for only two members?" He said, but was denied immediately by their captain, and was pointed out that he should have more faith in his other teammates, and that the army of Badin is not that weak.
However his request didn't make Mark feel any good, but he restrained himself to ask why the mission they insisted in taking more people, but Yolan let him know that it is because there are some gifted in the Dragon's fiery's lines and they could be there, after a struggle to explain how sufficient were Dash and Aln for him to succeed, and no one else, Reiko had to give up. They left, Reiko was feeling uneasiness because he didn't know if he would have to plan with the unforseen situations, his biggest worries were the twins, he had mark in a bigger margin of obeying, but he didn't have the chance to set the boundaries between leader and underlying between him and the twins, the gifted squad is after all, a bunch of disrespectful brats that want to do what they want, he needed to make clear for them to obey his comands, he entered the hangar where the aircraft was waiting for him, the rest of his team were already there, he looked at all of them nervous, - you are the strongest of all, they know that, and they know how intelligent you are, they will follow you" Aln said appearing behind him, this reasured Reiko, he smiled and walked to talk to his team.
