Currently I am sitting on a chair which has me tied. Because of my limited strength which was still kind of outrageous, I have been detained. Fay and Eden are also with me. But they listened to my request and did not tie them.
"Why are you doing this?" (Fay)
"You mean, why I am going along with this farce?"
"Yes. You don't seem the type to like these complex things." (Fay)
"Absolutely. But I am a rather peaceful person. So I tend to avoid commotion. However if they force me, I will give them the appropriate response. For now, they have been polite and cautious of me."
"Papa, will they do something bad to us?" (Eden)
"Of course not. They will just ask me some questions. They will not do anything to you."
I try assure her. Although she is a special kind of existence, she is but a child. I can not say anything to make her agitated.
They told me that the guild master will come himself.
"Fay, do you know the guild master?"
"Yes. He is a former SS rank adventurer. In his prime, I heard that he fought a dragon." (Fay)
"A dragon!! Those flying lizards!!!"
"To you it might be. But a dragon is still a threat. It is a national level crisis when they show up. A country has to mobilize its entire military force to try to fend it off. Killing it is out of the question. The most we can do is stall it until it loses interest." (Fay)
"Sounds pretty happy go lucky. So you are saying that the guild master is pretty strong by this world's standards."
"Pretty much. Of course he isn't the strongest. But he was still one of the strongest." (Fay)
"Then what kind of a person is he? Is he the arrogant type or the cautious and courteous type?"
"He is careful. Being a guild master, he has to make a lot of decisions. So he can't be hasty and arrogant. He is amiable." (Fay)
"I hope so. I don't want troubles. I just need a source of income."
"But you should not have shown your true strength." (Fay)
"That is just 10 percent of my original strength. The rest is sealed. You know that. And I even converted it to magic. Even then you say it's too much."
I sigh. Is being too strong a sin?
(No. You are just too strong in that world. But your strength is average at least by my standards.)
Shut up!! It took me almost a year to get this strong. And you still aren't satisfied.
(No. Your
Yeah yeah, whatever! We'll talk later. It seems the person I was waiting for is here.
She seriously needs to cut it out. Suddenly talking to me is bad for my health as well.
I hear the door behind me opening and heavy footsteps entering. It's completely natural. Those heavy footsteps show that he possesses a good physique.
I am facing a desk so I think he will be on the other side. When he came into my view I understood it.
He is an austere man. Showing no gaps in his defense and ready to fight any moment. His age is around 50 or so. Probably a bit older than my father.
He is tall. I have to say that. And his muscles are bulging even with his full body covered. His face shows the things he has gone through. Moreover, I can feel his magic. It's a lot lower than me.
What am I to do? I am just that much stronger.
He took his seat and looked at Fay.
Fay is sitting on a sofa with Eden on her lap on the side.
"Princess Fay, why are you with a person this dangerous?"
The first thing he says is that? His voice is grumpy. Age and experience I guess?
"It has been a while, guild master Christopher. I simply brought him here because he wanted a source of income. He is my savior and guest." (Fay)
He looks at me. Probably trying to appraise me. I flash a smile. If that helps to ease the mood.
"He wants to become an adventurer? But he doesn't feel like one. If you say, he can become a mage." (Christopher)
Now he is being polite. And he is looking down on me. Yes, I am lean compared to him. But I am confident in my physical strength.
"I can guess what you are thinking. But he is strong. Probably more than you." (Fay)
Oi….don't provoke him.
"Hmm….but what about him becoming a threat?" (Christopher)
"You don't have to worry about that. He is generally docile. If you do not provoke him, he won't do anything." (Fay)
Am I being treated like a wild animal?
"Fay, I understand his concern but aren't you treating me too horribly?"
"No. I need to let them know. Otherwise they might end up like Duke Martin." (Fay)
"True."
"Hmm….what happened to Duke Martin? As I recall, he went to get you back. Yes, in the first place, how are you here? The Castle said that you went missing after landing on an unknown star." (Christopher)
"It is a long story. I will fill you in later. And he is not a threat. So if you make him an adventurer, we can leave." (Fay)
"If you are vouching for him, I won't say anything. You are one of the top geniuses of this kingdom. And a member of the Royal Family as well." (Christopher)
"Stop. He will laugh. So what rank will he start from?" (Fay)
"Normally, F rank. However his magic count is too high. Is his magic that strong?" (Christopher)
"Yes. He can use all attributes and his magic count dwarfs all of us." (Fay)
"Then he will start from B rank. A direct admission into B rank is a first. The most was D rank. You name please?" (Christopher)
He asked me. His tone is polite. As Fay said, he is cautious and courteous.
"Clive Belmont. Age 18."
He took a Copper color card and wrote my name on it and stamped it. He handed it to me and I just took it.
"Then my job is done here. Fay, Eden let's go."
I got up from the chair and left with them. I will probably take a job while at it for some money.
(Christopher POV)
They left. Princess Fay and her entourage left. All tension left my body and I started sweating profusely. When I handed him the card, I had forgotten that he was tied.
But he just took it from my hand. He broke the magic binding and took it. He did it so effortlessly like it wasn't even there. And he got up from the chair like he was normally sitting on it.
Even me, a former SS rank adventurer can not break through that seal. And he broke through it so effortlessly. It seems my decision was right.
Princess Fay was really pushing for him as well. Maybe she knows what he is truly capable of. I can not make an enemy out of him. If I do that, this city will be done for.
I vow to myself that I will help him and will not stand in his way.
