Marguerite sends the two off to continue their journey. Their carriage eventually took them outside Couronne. The snowy landscape and the white-blanketed roads covered everything that could be seen, except the black and gray figures and silhouettes of the hibernating trees and dead bushes piercing the flatness of the landscape. Unlike the surrounding are of Couronne, the rest of the Champagne Domain were mostly natural foliage, except for the villages that had their own vineyards.
After an entire day of travelling, they make it to the Lisiere Domain, which is the easternmost county of the kingdom. The white sky became gray and blue. Gianni opens the window and sees two eagle-owls flying about. The two owls spot voles on the surface of the snow jumping around. They immediately dive catching the two rodents. Gianni protrudes his head on the open window, trying to see where the owls went.
"What are you doing?" Franz was bewildered at his sudden act. "You'll fall."
