We didn't even know exactly how long we had been without light but it had been a while. After entering the tree we discovered a nest full of insects that seemed to connect with each other and become one. As Aoi and I were coming from above, it was easier to be discreet as all of them were grouped more or less below us for some unknown reason.
Crossing the dark tunnels by chance we came across the place where Paul had been taken to be used as a receptacle for the larvae. He was wounded, unconscious, but not yet killed, just dumped among other corpses rotting in their liquid. To be honest, we hadn't explored much, but all our choices had led us to this very moment when our lives were in danger.
