"…but you do not need to thank me for taking care of my granddaughter." As Chairman Emad's last words echoed in Kelvin's mind, he widened his eyes and said back, "granddaughter?" But his voice only came out like a hoarse whisper.
Emad nodded and said, "Yes, Amanda is like my granddaughter, and I consider her such, therefore I cherish her deeply so I would do anything in my power for her."
Kelvin looked at the old man in front of him with a deep and meaningful gaze but said nothing else as he only wanted to see his wife.
The three of them exited the room and entered another along the corridors of the floor. There, they found Amanda hooked to multiple machines on a large bed. She had what looked like a breathing tube, some other tubes were connected to her mouth, her arms… Ironically, she rather looked like an ethereal goddess frozen in time, with the twines of life wound around her as if sustaining her life essence.
