Chapter 3 - CH3: 10 Minutes To Go

Apple pie moonshine was delicious with key lime pie. At first, he didn't think the two would go well together, but he was wrong. I stumbled to the porch as the last 10 minutes ticked on the clock. Snores like sawing logs battled with the frogs to outsing each other, but Ben's snoring was winning out.

I sat on an old wooden chair and watched orange pops spark on the barrier. The thing was reported to kill birds during the day from the pops. The sudden flash of light disoriented them, and they often flew straight down or into trees. With no one watching, I opened the video and played it.

My ex made for a shit amateur porn star. The lighting was shit, her moans were too fake or maybe real, and the lens had a thumbprint over it. I wiped the tears away, posted the video on Facebook, and tagged her mother. Then I sent it to a few more sites before deleting it off my phone. There was still a little time left, so I downloaded a few videos for lonely nights and returned my gaze to the sky.

A flash of light revealed the largest face I had ever seen. Alerts flared, and I started laughing. The barrier lit a bright orange as the face pressed against it.

White light filled the space as Isaac ran out the door, covered in the same white light as everyone else. Seeing him about to be teleported like the rest of us made me feel a little better.

"I hope you loaded up on porn, or it's going to be a dry next few years."

Isaac picked up a box and winked at me.

"What's in the box?" I asked.

By its shape, undisclosed appearance, and Isaac's guarded appearance, I had a guess.

"Mangos," Isaac said.

"Shake it," Vincent said.

When Isaac didn't, I raised an eyebrow.

"Must you know? I promise you would feel better not knowing we can't have that much time left before we're transported."

"We may never see each other again. I need no mysteries." I said.

"Have this one then to help you survive," Isaac said.

"It's a flashlight, isn't it?" I asked.

"What I would never?" Isaac said.

I nodded confidently that there were no secrets and patted Isaac on the shoulder. "I'm glad you were able to get your order through." Since we were sold off, all the best companies have back-orders thousands long. I think it's only the furry manufacturers that still had inventory. I froze at that thought and stared Isaac in the eyes. "You didn't."

"I don't know what you are accusing me of," Isaac said.

"Enjoy your mangos. I won't tell my sister you're cheating on your diet." I said.

The light overtook me, and my body left the dimension. It would be many years before I returned, and I could only hope there would be an earth to return to.
