The morning air was bright and fresh, though a little windy. Inside the car, the atmosphere was tense. Kalea sat beside Arthur, her hands clutching the dress she wore, a clear reflection of her nervousness. She glanced out the window every so often, trying to distract herself from the anxiety swirling in her mind.
It had been a long time since she last saw her mother, and the thought of their upcoming meeting only heightened her apprehension.
Arthur, seated in the driver's seat, cast a concerned glance at Kalea. He understood exactly how she felt, especially after everything they had been through together. Slowly, he reached for Kalea's hand, holding it gently.
"Relax, Lea," Arthur said in a calming tone. "There's no need to worry. Your mom will be happy to see you."
Kalea nodded faintly, though her face remained tense. "I know, but … it's been so long since I last saw her. I'm afraid she'll be upset that I haven't visited her."
