Kalea slowly turned the doorknob, as if she didn't want even the tiniest sound to disturb the peace inside. The door creaked open, revealing Ilene, weakly leaning against the headboard. Despite her frail body, she still looked graceful, her thin hand holding a novel she was reading slowly, trying to enjoy the story amidst her physical weakness. Kalea smiled as she stepped inside, approaching Ilene, who returned the smile as soon as she noticed their presence. Ilene set the novel aside, giving them her full attention.
"Hi, It's dinner time. How are you feeling today?" Kalea asked softly, taking the dinner tray from Dariel's hand and placing it on the small table beside Ilene's bed.
Dariel, standing behind Kalea, watched quietly. He seemed to observe Ilene's every movement intently, as though analyzing her health just from the way she sat and breathed.
