Arthur's words kept echoing in Dariel's mind. His best friend, who always shared every step of his relationship with Kalea, was now officially married. This made Dariel reflect on his relationship with Zeline. They had been together for quite some time, and he had often broached the topic of taking things to the next level. But Zeline always seemed to have reasons to avoid the subject.
Dariel understood. Zeline was busy finishing her studies, and he didn't want to pressure her. Soon enough, he thought, he could propose to her.
Inspired by Arthur's progress, Dariel had unknowingly bought a ring. An elegant diamond ring in a champagne-colored box now sat in his hand.
After staring at the ring for a long time, Dariel let out a heavy sigh and stepped out of his study, leaving the door unlocked.
