Wilde's POV
I was working in my office when I got a disturbing phone call. One of the other packs in the area had been noticing some strange activities with the human hikers. All packs keep an eye on any humans that enter their territories, in case they need to make their presence known. Otherwise, we keep to the forest, staying out of sight and out of mind.
This pack was noticing a disturbing amount of activity with the Shadow pack. The shadow pack is known to be reclusive, so this already was concerning. The Lux pack had noticed they were prowling around the human hikers when they had no need. We have hidden our packs in the depths of the forests, and some hiking trails happen to go through our territories. For the Shadow pack to be intervening, means that something is up.
"As we have been watching them, we found out something very disturbing," Alpha Ford explained, "The Shadow pack has been killing off anyone who steps foot into their territory. Every hiker has been found mauled. We don't know how to approach this, as we are a weaker pack. We thought that maybe you could find out what this is about before we are discovered. Search parties have already come too close for comfort. This pack is on the verge of exposing us all!"
I was taken back, this was unheard of from this pack. Hell, it was unheard of for them to even make their presence known.
"I had heard rumors that the Shadow pack was ruthless but this is uncalled for. I will make sure to check this out. Thanks for the tip, Ford. Tell the kids I say hi."
Hanging up, I rub my temples, I can already feel a headache coming along. The Shadow pack was normally never a problem, and all of a sudden they choose to make their presence known. I have a sinking feeling that they are up to no good.
"Luke, can you please come to my office, this is urgent," I called through the intercom system.
Not 5 minutes later, Luke comes into my office, quickly closing the door behind him.
"You paged? What's up, you seem unnerved?"
"Have a seat, we have a pressing matter to discuss," I nodded towards a chair.
Slowly sitting down, Luke looks worried. He waits for me to explain.
"I just got off the phone with Alpha Ford of the Lux pack. He was calling to inform me of some unnerving sightings. According to him, the Shadow pack has been very active. Unfortunately, the activity is nothing good. They are mauling any hiker that enters their territory."
"They can't do that! They have no r-," Luke states, quickly jumping for the chair.
"Calm down son, I am just as mad as you are. That is not the only reason to be upset. They are sending out search parties for the missing hikers. Normally that is fine, but they are getting too close to the packhouses in the area, so the Shadow and Lux pack houses. They are in danger of being discovered." I said as calmly as I could.
Luke was fuming at this point. Knowing it would get him nowhere, he threw himself back into the chair, looking at me.
"So, what are we going to do about this? What is our plan of action?" He asked
I can already tell he will be a great Alpha, our pack will be in good hands.
"We will prepare to visit the Shadow pack."
