Chapter 46: Sports Festival Aftermath
~Third POV~
[UA High School, Stadium, Japan]
*POM*
With Ren winning the event and, after a few minutes, recovering, everyone's attention was now on the people who made it to the stage. Resting in their respective places, Midnight announced in a hype tone, "Now, let's move on to the awards ceremony!"
*POM*
Fireworks were heard as Ren was standing on the 1st place stage, Katsuki Bakugo 2nd place, and for 3rdShoto Todoroki each gazing at the crowd each filled with their respective thoughts of winning the sports Festival.
Midnight walked around as she began to explain about the medals in an enthusiastic tone, "Now for the medals!! Presenting this this year is… you know who!! He's everyone's here… All Might!!"
*SHAH*
Jumping on one of the stadium towers, All Might appeared, dropping down heroically in his buffed form. Taking one of the medals, he began to congratulate Todoroki in a happy tone, "Congratulations, Todoroki, kid. You held back your left side for the duration of the Sports Festival was there any reason for that?"
Shoto, gazing at the medal bestowed upon him, soon replied in a stoic tone, seemingly lost his way, "It was my match against Yuki… I think I've lost my way. I know you've taken an interest in him, and I'm starting to see why. I've always wanted to become a hero like you. But… it's not like I can just forget and get over things. That's not enough. There's still something I have to settle first."
*Squeeze*
Giving Shoto a light hug, All Might responded with some words of wisdom to him in an optimistic tone, "… that's a new look on your face. So say no more. Whatever you must settle, I'm sure you can do it."
All Might soon proceeded to head over to Bakugo, giving him his medal in a cheerful tone, encouraging him, "You did great, young Bakugo! You managed to surpass your limits reaching second place! I can tell you have a bright future ahead of you young man and take today's events to be better in the future."
Bakugo took the medal as he spoke with a devilish grin eyeing Ren atop the first-place stand in a determined tone, "I'm not standing in 1st place, All Might. I still need to grow stronger and knock him down a notch. Then you can tell me I did great."
All Might simply replied at his devilish expression, "Good luck."
But soon, he turned his attention towards Ren as he gave him the medal in a proud tone, eyeing him, "And finally, Ren Yuki! You have done splendidly well during the Sports Festival!"
Taking the medal, he smiled lightly as he rubbed the back of his head in a rare moment, expressing his shyness, "Aw… thanks. I'm not this used to this much attention it's actually quite embarrassing actually."
Finishing with the Sports Festival events would be giving the students 2 days off…

~Ren Y. POV~
[Musutafu, Himiko Residence, Japan]
We were given two days to rest up from the Sports Festival, so I took this time to take it a bit easy for now. I can still feel that adrenaline pumping from the earlier fights coursing through me.
Fuck. I think I might be a battle junkie.
I don't know if that's a good thing or bad. But currently, it's our first day off, as Toga and I were alone for today.
With nothing happening, we decided to stay indoors watching the TV or the news. I've been wondering for a while now how to increase my copy slots as I watched the television trying to find a way to increase my Quirk copy count.
I've considered trying my [Gene Refinement] to maybe do it. But I'm not sure if it'll cost me the Quirks I copied and mastered over the year to be worth the risk.
And for that matter, which Quirk I exactly need next should also be a great concern. I thought about Momo's Quirk [Creation] to be my next slot at level 20.
Since I had [High Spec] it would be perfect with [Creation]. I wouldn't need to take time thinking of the makeup and instantly recognize and configure it into creation. Or better yet a refinement version of [Creation] would be better.
However, as the fight showed, there was a time when Todoroki or Bakugo managed to push me back, much to my shock. The possibility of adding another offensive Quirk did come to mind.
Or better yet a defensive passive one like I had for the hair sample of Gigantomachia. He had plenty of useful Quirks but I know that won't be enough either.
But the hair sample from Shigiraki with his sample of [Decay] and [Overhaul] Quirk would be a good addition to have in my set. And I managed to get some hair samples of Class 1-B to further assist me in obtaining their Quirks.
Sigh… it's too soon to think which ones would be practical. Unless I can get my hands on [All for One], I won't be able to modify my Quirks or obtain a storage system in my body to make it work.
Or better yet, I could try to get Ectoplasm Quirk [Clones]. It could be useful to have such a Quirk for the internships ahead…
I wonder which people will be interested in me. I did make a good impression, I hope, during the Sports Festival.
*Beep*
Checking my phone, I saw some text messages from Nejire as I smiled. I usually text her when she texts me. I guess she must've done well at the sports festival for her year according to her.
I wonder how the others are doing… Well, I guess I can do something practical, like moving around Japan to get some portal spots at the ready. That's something I could do in the next two days.

[2 Days Later, U.A. High School, Class 1-A, Japan]
*SWIRL*
*Tmp*
Exiting from my [Wormhole], Toga landed inside our classroom. Toga soon commented on the usefulness of my [Wormhole] in an impressed tone, "Not gonna lie, you being able to summon that portal straight to class is the ultimate cheat skill to have in school, Ren-kun. No, like seriously."
Rubbing the back of my head, I nodded my head, agreeing, avoiding the rain today in a neutral tone, "Yeah. It certainly helps to make the class rep easier to travel. And being Class Rep means I have some certain leeway using my Quirks around Campus."
And that Nezu allowed me to utilize my Quirks since he gave me the okay to train my [OFA], although it's a bit of a stretch. I checked my group chat with the class, telling Momo that I already arrived with my Quirk.
Of course, she scolded me through the text messages. It was something I did when I became the president of the classroom to keep each other informed or to discuss some topics.
Oh, boy, I regret that decision greatly. I mean, try with almost all of them asking how I did that electric ability without saying I copied it from our resident Pikachu.
Regardless, I did have my task to handle being the class president of Class 1-A. Fortunately, though, I have [High Spec] to make my job a lot easier to handle dealing with the norm around the school politics all things considered.
I have considered the idea of upgrading [High Spec], but neither am I pleased with the fact that I'll have pain coursing through my brain if my Quirk Factor from it will put me through. I began finishing up the task with Momo and eventually, the rest of the class came inside.
Greeting them as they congratulated me for winning the Sports Festival, I heard Kendo talking to the class in a curious tone, "Didn't anyone ask you about the sports festival, Mina?"
Mina grinned as she bobbed her head with Sero commenting, gaining attention, asking me with his arms crossed, "Yeah! Hey Ren, you made a big splash out there, people must have swarmed your left and right!"
Listening to that, I responded as I checked my phone, texting Nejire in a chill tone, shrugging my shoulders, "Nope. I came here early for my Class Rep duties, so I portal here to get past the crowd with Toga. Gotta prioritize, ya know. Ain't that right, Momo?"
Momo nodded her head, agreeing as she sighed at me, using my Quirk to get to class early today in a stern tone, "Yeah. But as Class Rep, you must be wary when you use your Quirk. But still, your matches were quite dangerous."
Rubbing the back of my head, I commented in a nonchalant tone about my fights with Shoto and Bakugo, "It wasn't that bad. I mean, one little event, and suddenly, the world's got its eye on us. All of you guys did well, all things considered – "
*Shhhh*
Immediately, we all got into our seats and behaved as Aizawa-Sensei appeared and greeted us in a stoic tone, "Morning, class."
We all greeted him with a good morning as Aizawa Sensei got straight to the point in a stoic tone as he put down some documents, "Today we've got hero informatics class. And a special one at that. You'll be coming up with your hero aliases."
Everyone in class erupted from their seats upon hearing the news in an excited tone, "How awesome! Time to shine!!"
One light glare got us in check from Aizawa-Sensei as he began to explain in a stoic tone about hero aliases, "But first, concerning the pro draft picks I mentioned the other day. It's based on who the pros think will be ready to join the hero workforce after another 2 or 3 years of experience… So, you could say that it's a way for them to show interest in your future. But there's ample time for their interest to wane before you graduate. And any offers can be arbitrarily revoked. It happens quite often."
I listened as Shinso muttered, whispering to himself as I managed to listen, "That's rough being called upon by their whims."
Soon, Itsuka questioned Aizawa, raising her hand and asking in a curious tone about the internship, "So if we're picked now, that just means there'll be higher hurdles in the years to come Aizawa-Sensei?"
Curtly nodding his head answering her question shifting his attention to the class, "Yes. Now here are the complete draft pick numbers. There's typically more of a spread. But our top 3 stole most of the spotlight."
Viewing the names I have the most followed by Todoroki and Bakugo. We took a glance at each other with Denki muttering out loud, "Gah! They're in a whole other league!"
Yui scoffed as she scowled, lightly muttering, showing a rare side of herself, "Tch. These pros have no eyes for talent."
Momo took a glance over to me in a neutral tone, seeing her marks were high enough, "Well done as always, Yuki."
Nodding my head, I sheepishly replied with a wry grin, "I wouldn't say that. Those two did give me a run for my money."
But returning to the topic Aizawa-Sensei spoke in a stoic tone about everyone getting the chance, "With that settled… whether you were picked or not you will have a chance to work alongside the pros. You all have indeed experienced more than most, but seeing the pros in action and taking part yourselves will be worthwhile training."
Everyone began to cheer up with them getting a chance to participate with Aizawa-Sensei continuing to exclaim, "They're only tentative, but you still want to pick something appropriate for your hero names… "
That was when a familiar voice echoed into our classroom in an enthusiastic tone, "Or else you'll know true hell!!"
*Tmp*
Entering the classroom, the class exclaimed, revealing to be Midnight as she explained in an excited tone, "The name you pick now may be what the world ends up calling you. That's happened to plenty of pros out there!!"
Everyone eventually calmed down as Aizawa-Sensei began to explain to the class in a stoic tone, getting into his sleeping bag, "Yes. True enough. And Midnight here will be assessing the sensibility of the names you pick. I'm no good at that. What future do you see for yourself? The name you choose will bring you ever closer to cementing a certain image because names can reflect one's true character."
Hmm… that reflects my true character, huh? If that's the case, then there's only one name that fits for someone like me. I mean, with my Hero Costume and the theme of making a new hero show that I watched growing up that everyone likes.
It would be a shame if I didn't cash it in, right? Everyone can agree in my previous life that they were the mighty heroes of their time, inspiring others for generations with their nostalgia and great TV shows.
The Mighty Morphing Hero: Power Ranger.
