CHAPTER FOUR:

[CIA, ILLIONIS BRANCH OFFICE]

"Lawson! Lawson! Grunted Chief Snyder, the fifty something year old, potbellied, brownish blonde man, was in an especially foul mood this morning; "Where's that update on Harris that I asked for?" "Good morning chief", "there's nothing good about this morning Lawson, the higher ups have been on my ass for the past seventy two hours, shouting the same annoying thing over and over "it was under your jurisdiction, under your orders and it was your agent that disappeared with the only person on earth who could build a nuclear weapon powerful enough to wipe out half a continent" he snarled, "and, where is my update? That update on Harris should have been on my desk over a decade ago, Harris is one of my best agents and it's been over a year since she went MIA, I probably suspect she's trying to stay under the radar, we still don't know how that safe house was compromised or how they found out about their whereabouts' or the most difficult question on his mind at the moment was about her decision to take her to her home, only a few selected individuals knew about that and knowing Harris she probably suspects someone's been leaking information, so she doesn't trust anyone in the agency and if that's the case, then bringing Dr. Newman here would not only be endangering her life but it might be as good as handing her over to them. If the syndicate has already infiltrated the CIA and planted a mole within our ranks then we're in big trouble but we need to secure the formula for that weapon as soon as possible, if a weapon like that were to land in the hands of our enemies it could cause death and destruction on an unimaginable scale and totally shift the scales of global power and put millions if not billions of lives at risk" he blabbered to himself.

"Sir, sir, sir Chief Snyder!" Chief Snyder never liked it whenever he was interrupted during one of his monologues, but he was willing to let this slide "what is it Lawson?" "Sir, just last week, agent Harris's covert, Alex Linton was used at an airport in Sierra Leone and a few days later the same ID was registered at an airport in Bolivia, but so far we haven't been able to get any facial ID to confirm that this is actually agent Harris so far we haven't been able to pin point her actual location, as for Dr. Newman she is still off the grid". Chief Snyder gave an exhausted sigh and cleared his throat, "well staying off the grid shouldn't be too difficult for Dr. Newman, given how brilliant she is, we know she escaped that night cause if she hadn't we would be hearing rumors of world war three by now, now that she knows they're after her she's going to be even harder to track down, with her kind of intellect if she doesn't want to be found, she won't be found."

"What about the trinity?" Agent Lawson scrolled through his tablet for a while and clicked on the next file that appeared on the Chief's screen, "using the information from agent Harris our efforts to suppress the Trinity over the past eight months have proved successful as we managed to take down six of their hideouts throughout the country and four internationally through our collaborative efforts with Interpol and we've intercepted over thirteen major arms shipments and seven financial transactions and confiscated over three point nine billion dollars but ever since our encounter with Hugo Sax, Alias Heat or baldie as agent Harris prefers to call him and Malachai, no last name, no alias the Trinity has remained inactive and our surveillance units haven't detected any recent activities, we still haven't been able to identify the last member of the lethal triangle, all we know about him is his alias, the prophet. But so far we know nothing about the leader of the Trinity".

"So you're basically telling me, you have nothing", said Chief Snyder grabbing his eye brows in frustration, "get two teams ready, I want a team in Sierra Leone and another in Bolivia as early as tomorrow, don't stop investigating until you have something useful for me, is that understood?", "yes sir", "and Lawson should you mess this up, I'm a generous man so I'll be giving you a choice either I'll be having your head on the chopping block or your ass scrubbing public toilets." "yes sir", special agent Lawson touched his throat checking if it was still there, he gulped hard and was out of Chief Snyder's office before he had a chance to start issuing threats about his intestines. Agent Lawson gave a sigh of relief once he was outside Chief Snyder's office, beads of sweat gathered on his forehead as he slumped his head against his table, "God I'm a dead man", he mumbled to himself over and over, again and again .

[THREE WEEKS LATER]

Moving day came sooner than expected like somehow; it almost feels like time has some kind of grudge against you so it moves faster when it knows you're bound to get pissed, and Agnes Tracer was absolutely pissed off, she couldn't believe they were actually moving away, actually leaving. It didn't seem real, none of it did until the car pulled up in front of the house, and she was actually at her new home. She finally faces reality as she's unpacking her boxes. The house was nice and simple, four bedrooms, a stylish yet simple kitchen, garage, basement, a study and two verandahs. The house seemed sturdy and a bit stiff and a whole lot of repairs had been done on the house but her overall verdict on the house was swayed by its simplicity and beauty, it wasn't Denver but it was nice, "give this a chance to work Agnes, give things a chance, give change a chance", she mumbled to herself suddenly a shrill raced up her spine, she turned around frantically, half hoping to see an army of the undead rise up out of the linoleum floor boards, but after her head almost fell off, she felt silly and shook it off as nothing but her paranoia, she hadn't even spent a whole hour in her new home and she was already having such crazy thoughts.
