Xavier hesitated for a moment as Arendt didn't show any sign of fighting back. I was perplexed by his behavior as well. I had felt this before when Lady Evelyn attempted self-destruction.

Xavier seemed to be in a dilemma as he couldn't decide whether Arendt was planning something or not.

Shortly, a blood plant snaked around Xavier's wrist, preventing him from ripping Arendt's head off.

I turned to come face to face with Lord Cardis as his soldiers moved aside, halting the attacks.

"How long do I have to emphasize that I can't allow you to take Arendt's life?" Lord Cardis asked, clenching his fists as the blood plant pierced deep into Xavier's arm.

However, Arendt didn't move from there. He was kneeling, lowering his gaze as if he wanted his death.

"Arendt," Lord Cardis called him calmly. But Arendt didn't respond.

"Arendt, are you going to disobey your master?" Lord Cardis asked coldly.
