Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- Marrying the Alpha Lord

"Marry the emperor? Is this even possible, Father?" I asked my father, forgetting to add any honorifics. I could not help growing apprehensive.

"It is the only solution to end the war between the wolves and the vampires, Alessandra," my father replied calmly.

He was standing in front of the large window frame, turning his back on me. He did not look at me the entire time. Perhaps sacrificing his only daughter was not a preference for him as well. But I was raised to be the perfect princess and the future lady of the vampire empire. I could carry out my duties well.

I, Alessandra Lelouch, was the daughter of the vampire lord. And it was my wedding day.

I was being groomed my entire life for this day. I was supposed to dictate over the vampires.

However, I ended up in the situation where I was getting married to the alpha lord. To end the war between two species that was going on for centuries.

My maids were trying their best to make me look like the most sophisticated bride ever in history. They put on an elegant white gown on me. It was making my pale skin shine like a full moon. I decided not to put on any heavy makeup or unnecessary pieces of jewelry.

My long black hair was let loose. My peachy pink lips reddened due to my continuous biting.

Vampires were the noblest species. I had learned to sustain absolute calm in any situation. Yet, I was getting anxious thinking about how I would live with that man. Vampires despised the wolves.

So did the wolves to the vampires. It was vice versa. They were known as the most barbarian in nature, with no sense of elegance.

I heard that the wolves would not even wear proper outfits. What if that barbarian man ends up coming to my wedding wearing just trousers with no shirts on? The thought was eating me up from inside. I heard they had no demeanors as well. And earlier that day, I even overheard the maids talking among themselves about how the wolves would go on for days without taking showers.

I was getting an ominous feeling. The wolves were ruthless.

They would kill without any mercy. And the wolf lord was supposed to be the cruelest among them. He was a man without any sentiments. Why he agreed to such a proposition was already a shock for me.

The wolves would find their fated mates when they would turn 16. There was no way that man was mateless for all these years. Then why would he leave his mate and agree to espouse someone like me who was his rival? Probably to open a harem. I sighed.

My head filled with all the random speculations that I had heard about the wolves over the years. I was feeling sick and exhausted. I could not ask a single question after my father said that it was for the protection of my kind. But the sickening feeling was refusing to go away no matter how hard I was trying to calm down.

My mother entered the room after a while. She was upset to marry her only daughter to a wolf. She was afraid that I would have to leave the vampire realm and would need to live in a completely foreign place.

"You are looking beautiful, My Child," She patted my head lightly and said. "Keep in mind that you are strong, Alessandra. Even though you will be alone, I believe that you will be able to protect yourself well."

"Thank you, Mother," I replied calmly.

Shortly after, there was a knock on the door, and an escorting guard appeared. It was time for me to attend my wedding. A lot of guests had come to join the historic wedding.

It was finally going to put an end to the longest-running war between the two most powerful species. The witches, wizards, and the oracles had also come to greet the newlywed lord and lady.

I had forgotten to take my bouquet. I asked the escorting guards to continue moving and assured them that I would not take more than seconds.

I could have ordered my maids. But the purpose was unusual.

I had noticed an exotic fragrance. It was like a blend of fresh citrus and lotus. It was even good enough to drive a vampire crazy. I unintentionally followed the source of the fragrance. It was coming from the palace garden. I could not help taking a look from up there.

When I descended my gaze, I saw a man in the middle of the garden, standing near the fountain. Even though I was far away up on the second floor of my castle, my vampire nerves succeeded in providing me with at least a conception of the man's look.

The royal blue tunic was fitted on his broad-shouldered body, making him look like someone from a royal family.

Just from his slender yet masculine back and neck length, black hairs, I could already tell that the man was handsome. I felt upset all of a sudden. It was a disgrace to check out random men on the day of my wedding.

Besides, the man was standing there with an insanely gorgeous blonde woman. They seemed to be in the middle of an intense conversation. They were probably a couple.

I had never seen anyone with that much grace and elegance in my empire before. I wondered about their identity. Their eye-catching beauty would make it impracticable to let them go unnoticed.

But where was my barbarian groom? When I entered the large wedding hall, everyone bowed to me except my father, the current vampire lord.

I looked around. Not because I was impatient, I was just curious. I was expecting to see some overly masculine man with long hair not washed for ages. And, of course, with no top.

But let alone having someone with such an appearance in the wedding hall, my jaw dropped the next moment when a man entered the wedding hall after a short while.

He was exactly as attractive as the man I had seen earlier in the garden. A bit younger, perhaps a few years even younger than me. Yet his royal outfit and the unearthly beauty made every single woman in the hall swallow their breath. Vampires were known as the most elegant species. Yet, such royalty was rare even among vampires.

He bowed in front of my father and gave me a warm smile while slightly nodding his head.

"Welcome, Prince Edrik. It is an honor to have you within us," my father said politely.

"It is my utmost pleasure. How could I miss such an important day of my brother, My lord," the prince replied gracefully.

Soon after, the guards declared the groom's entrance. Everyone's attention turned to the door. I felt a hammer on my chest. Here comes the barbarian, I thought.

I was looking away, lowering my gaze. The man entered the wedding hall. I felt like my intestine would come out of my mouth. The sudden gulps of the guests were not going unnoticed in my ears.

What caused the guests to respond like that? Was the man that hideous? I lost my zeal to look at him. With a heavy heart, I kept looking away until he stood in front of me.

The fragrance from earlier filled my nose. It was the familiar fragrance of citrus and lotus. Slowly, I glanced at the man standing in front of me. My heart was pounding so hard that I felt like it would burst in my chest.

I gasped. There was no way he was the alpha lord and the groom of tonight's wedding. The phenomenally handsome man from earlier was standing right in front of me. Up close, he was multiple times more attractive.

He owned the most exquisite pair of hazel green eyes. His sharp features and cold elegance pierced through my heart. For a moment, I felt inferior compared to him.

My stereotypical thoughts started stabbing me right at the moment.

Barbaric man? Who? He was radiating such royal energy that even the noblest vampires were intimidated when he entered.

No shirts? The well-embellished royal blue tunic was blending with his perfectly proportioned, tall body. The crescent-shaped emblem was sparkling on his surcoat.

Don't wash their hair? His soft, black hair was shining. It was looking soft as velvet.

All the wolf knights bowed instantly to their lord. Even the witches and the wizards acquiesced to the lord of the wolves. He was the strongest alpha lord in history. His ice-cold appearance made sense for it as well. Since he came to the hall, he did not even glance at me.

The vampires were ashamed. They had spread enormous embarrassing rumors about the wolf cultures and their appearances. And looking at the wolves and how elegant they were in demeanors brought shame to the vampires, who were forever claiming themselves as the noblest.

Finally, the formalities of the marriage ended. As it was a political marriage, we had to form the blood pact as a liability for the peace between the vampires and the wolves.

By forming the blood pact, we were exchanging part of our souls. Now it was time for me to leave my empire and go to my new home. I was officially the luna.
