Harper gagged but forced herself to drink another headache reliever as she started her day with a cup of coffee.
She noticed her hands trembling and sighed.
A doctor had already told her to limit her caffeine. But she was as stubborn as she could get.
"Come and bite me, Doc," she murmured and realized how it sounded wrong.
A little while later, Roland joined her on the kitchen counter, his taut muscles showing from the loose shirt he had on as he reached for the cupboard and pulled out a black mug.
All the while, Harper was trying not to gawk at the shape of his body and his presence. He clearly just woke up himself.
There was nothing for breakfast yet, making Harper feel a little guilty. She promised Roland that she'd be his cook while freely staying with him. And yet she was slacking.
"Do you mind?" Roland asked, gesturing toward the space beside Harper. She was leaning against it, sipping her coffee, facing the kitchen.
