CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED THIRTY TWO
.
After Yuan left, Feifei is thinking about precautions against the flesh eaters. He was thinking hard when he thought there really is something about poisons and herbs that could delay their movements and blind them.
It would give them enough time for escape and to ask for help.
Feifei frowned. He should start making a batch and give them to Yuan's family and his friends.
And send some to his family too.
Worried about the large quantities of herbs needed, he decided to send a letter to one of his shops in Chandraneel. He took a paper and pen and wrote down a letter of instruction and the herbs he needed.
After awhile, he checked on his long list of ingredients. When he was satisfied, he stuffed it inside his bag. He will mail it tomorrow.
He then went straight to the kitchens. Yuan will be gone for a month or two. He should make food for him to take on his journey. Like a preserved meat or something.
Yuan likes spicy food.
Feifei went to the food storage room and stared at the ingredients he has on hand.
Meat chili sauce it is.
Good thing Yuan bought almost 5 pounds of pork in the market earlier and there is still a good portion of the marinated lamb shanks. Which was left uncut.
He was planning to make spiced meat and smoke some of them. But it seems like Yuan will need these more than him.
Looking at the ingredients, he starts to work.
He made a hole on one end of the lamb shanks and inserted a string. He went to the newly built room dedicated for smoking meat and tied it to the clothes line. He then took out the maple wood and lit them below the hanging lamb shanks.
The maple wood will certainly add flavor and aroma to the meat making it more appetizing and mouthwatering.
He went back to the kitchens and began to slice and dice the pork. Afterwards, he washed two pots clean then placed one on the stove.
While waiting for the pot to heat up, he also washed the onions and garlic. Then sliced them. He divided the garlic into two parts and set aside the other half for later use.
He then put oil on the pot and waited for it to heat up. Then he put the onions and garlic together. When it was a pretty brown, he put the meat. He broke apart the meat while frying. He doesn't want them to stick together. He fried the meat until golden brown then added salt, dried basil, pepper, oregano and fennel seeds.
He added a little water and wine on the mix then let it simmer on a very low heat.
He went to the storage and took a bottle of his toasted red chili pepper, placed it on the table. Carrying a lamp and a basket, he went to the backyard and picked fresh chili peppers.
After awhile, he rubbed the back of his neck as he stretched out his limbs. Guess he took too much peppers? His back hurt with prolonged bending.
He walked to the kitchens and began his preparation for the chili sauce.
He washed the peppers and sliced them thinly. Then he grinded it with a mortar and pestle along with salt.
He then put the second pot on the stove and put oil to heat. He put the garlic and waited until it was brown then he added the freshly grinded chili.
Feifei smiled as he smelled the enticing scent of garlic and pepper.
He then added a third of a cup of oil, all the dried red chili pepper in his bottle, sugar and soy sauce. After awhile of stirring, he took it off from the stove and transferred it to the counter.
Feifei giggled as he imagined Yuan eating this with red puffy lips.
He then washed four jars as containers for the meat sauce.
It would take awhile for the meat sauce to be ready. So he left the kitchens.
He feels sticky and smells like meat and spices. It would be nice to take a nice cool bath.
The river from the village comes from the mountains. And the flowing water passes just outside the house like a shower before it spills down the river.
While walking to the main house, he thought it should be almost midnight already?
Feeling bold and fearless, Feifei stuck out his chest.
Why not?
